† RazorDan
The title is pretty self explanatory. For me, I believe I'll always watch anime, even when I'm really old BUT I am pretty sure that my 'watch-rate', the number I watch on a regular basis, will go way down. I hope that I never 'drop' it and I'm fairly sure I won't.However, this all depends, for me at least, on one thing. That is, that the quality of anime produced doesn't drop too much. More and more nowadays, anime is being watched by a wider audience and I desperately hope that does not result in more quantity and less quality of anime. What are your thoughts? Libitinarius
I agree, I hope all the new anime does not get watered down on a channel like Disney XD. As long as uncut versions continue to come out, I will be content in continuing to watch anime. And hopefully they can aspire to make anime as good as the films ninja scroll and akira. DuLake
Yeah, I kind of feel like my tastes will change, but as long as good anime exists I'll probably watch it. Like you said, I'll watch much less, but I don't see any reason to kick the habit.
Koby
I've already seen a rapid drop in the amount of Anime I watch in the last year. I'm picking up less shows, and watching less than I pick up, as well as dropping more and more shows. It's getting harder to find decent shows that I feel I haven't seen a thousand times before as once you've seen as many as I have they rarely seem unique anymore. I still have a lot of old shows to watch though, but I find myself drifting more towards Sci-fi live-action shows like Doctor Who, Torchwood, Teen Wolf, Supernatural, etc.. rather than Anime. I'll probably never drop Anime completely but it'll probably dwindle down to just a couple shows a year within the next decade.
Tommy071095
Odds are that I will probably always watch anime. As Raz said it is being watched by a wider audience today, but I don't think that will mean the quality of anime produced will drop, that depends other factors. The reason anime is being watched by a wider audience today than it was say 10 years ago is because the quality of anime produced has increased in my opinion.I like some older anime such as Cowboy Bebop and the original Ghost In The Shell movie (I like the second one as well but you can't really call that Innocence old as it was released in 2004 where as the original was released in 1995),but most of the anime I like (Code Geass and Death Note being the two prime examples) has been produced in the last 10/11 years. As long as they are producing anime on par with C.G. and D.N. I am always gonna fan as I think anime is so much better than anything live-action.
Wolfwood
I believe I will always watch Anime and especially the animes that I love. It is a passion that got me through my childhood and I will not easily drop it.
Hōtarō
After awhile, I've stopped watching anime. I haven't watched an episode of anything...possibly all year. Nothing that's out interests me. From what I've seen, everything either has some ridiculous plot, it's the same thing has Naruto/Bleach/Fairy Tail, or it's fan service. Not really my thing. Koby
Anime has really been going down hill with every season as it gets more bloated with fanservice in an attempt to get easy viewers in horny teenage boys. The plots are being rehashed over and over again if the show even has a plot and you're lucky to have one great show each season. Some seasons nothing really stands out. Compared to 3-4 years ago when 5+ series every season really shined.
Elementa
I agree with Koby 100%. There hasn't been a really good series like naruto or bleach in a long time. There is nothing new nowadays. Anime is bound to go downhill and so are the viewers, especially in the US. The fanservice is just ridiculous, it just takes away any seriousness the series has. Manifesto
I'm probably going to drop anime completely except One Piece in the next 5 years or so, UNLESS I find an anime that is actually worth watching which I find really hard to do, who knows maybe Fairy Tail will improve and outlast One Piece ? so I'm not 100% sure. ragnawind
I don't I will get out of anime anytime soon. Anyway, the reason why there is so much fanservice in Japan is because that is what a lot of viewers there are interested in, right now. They only make anime that will sell in their country, at least. Also, many people say that they have basically done everything they do in new animes before, but, while that may be true, the Japanese still like it since it is a new take on it with different situations, settings, and characters. If you are so stuck on not liking the newer anime due to fanservice, you should at least try to ignore it and enjoy the other elements, such as story, character, character development, etc. That is what people usually watch anime for in the first place. It is a form of entertainment, at least. In reality, most english made movies and series have also been done before, but they use the same differences that anime does. idl12
Even I have to admit that the amount of anime I watch has been dropping lately, blasphemous thoughts of socializing with "real girls" have been creeping up on me again, I don't think I will ever stop completely though, ever since I could remember I have always been amazed by animation, whether it be American toons or japanese anime, even if the stories get less and less interesting(not that I think they are), I'll probably just keep watching them out of appreciation for the effort put into animating them, this won't happen anytime soon though as I have an easily pleased mind, hell the only reason I don't watch anime as much as I used to now is because of this constant annoyance called real life, and education. You can't when they decide to make something like HighSchool of the Dead where they remove the story, turn the characters into blobs of fat, remove all character development for more time to jiggle boobs, etc.. The manga was nothing like this. You can't enjoy the 'other elements' when there is simply no other elements because they were completely removed.
