I usually can't tell the difference unless its clearly obvious. Its like telling me to tell Coke and Pepsi apart, I can't anymore rofl.

This is only so because I constantly play video games on a regular TV on a regular basis, and then occasionally watch or play more video games on an HD TV.

PEPSI FTW!! lol

HD anime is good in all, and i can see the pull of it. but there normally isnt a huge difference in quality. But maybe thats just me, meh...

I prefer 480 for the most part. Mostly because it downloads faster. but for a select few I'll go for 720. FMAB, and Gundam 00 both look amazing on my Monitor which is 1366x768. But I have to shut everything off on my little Netbook to do it... Yes, My Netbook is hooked up to a monitor. If I leave anything running the Audio and video start to drop out of sync. Well, with a High quality 720 anyway... Low quality ones don't tax the computer at all..

As for Coke or Pepsi, I prefer Coke! Pepsi just tastes dry to me..

HD anime is the only anime i try to watch if i can get it, i can see a big difference from 480p to 720p much more clearer and the colors are brighter and u see more detail in everything. 1080p/blurays are the ultimate for watching anime but they are huge in size and most people cant enjoy them cuz there computer cant handle it, but if u can watch 720p you will enjoy and appreciate the anime more. i see a big differnce cuz i have a 470gtx card and im useing a 40inch led samsung tv for a computer screen. ^_^

It is always worth it for me, but I don't mind standard, just not shitty portable device quality. If HD files get a bit too large sometimes I'll downsize them, but yeah, I typically try to go for HD.

P.s - I think both Pepsi and Coke taste awful.

If you have the right television for it, definitely. But if you don't have an HDTV then, it's pointless. You won't even noticed anything different. I have and HDTV, and well, I can't really tell cause I have bad eyesight to begin with, but people always tell me how great the picture looks on my TV when I'm watching something in HD.

Most of my old school anime I'm happy with in DVD form (even a couple VHS), but there are a few I'd upgrade to BluRay if they existed (or at least weren't an unscrupulous amount right now):

Spirited Away

Howl's Moving Castle

Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture

All three Tenchi Muyo movies

And this is coming from a BluRay fanatic.

For anime, HD is great but i dont find much difference in quality going from 720p - 1080p unless you are viewing on a screen 32"+. my monitor is 28" and tv is 40", but i honestly think HD is much better, lines are more defined, colours are richer and i love being able to watch in a large screen without the picture being compromised. With that said i do prefer seeking 720p+ content vs anything else.

Well, with the anime I watch, it's not that big of a difference... *points to signature*

But in general, yeah, totally is. Thing is, anime tends to focus more on the beauty of a single picture and not the animation itself. So HD is just perfect for that, while with Western cartoons, watching things in lower definition doesn't matter too much, since you're going to be getting the main appeal anyway: the simple designs with the fluid animation. Anime is all about the beauty, though, so...

Unless you're watching an older anime.
