Synopsis: Ganta Igarashi has been convicted of a crime that he hasn't committed, and sent to a new, privately owned and operated prison, where the inmates are the main attraction in a modern day twist to the gladiatorial coliseums of ancient times. Throw in a healthy dose of weird little girl, some new-found super powers, and a little conspiracy theory, and you have Deadman Wonderland.

It's suppose to be 12 episodes + an OVA so far. After seeing the first couple of episodes that have aired so far, what is your thoughts on the series?

Personally I just finished watching the first two episodes back-to-back and I gotta say I'm already loving it. The pacing, the plot, and the characters are all fascinating and seems right up my alley. I dare say this may be one of the best series I've had the pleasure of watching in the last several months or more. I can only hope it keeps up like this and the producers don't mess it up.

I watched the first ep and it's great, but, did they seriously sentence a fourteen year old to death, just because he was the only survivor? I knew they had a supposed video, but still, is this Japan or China?

Did you watch all of the first episode? The thing that killed his class framed him and his very own defense attorney is in charge of the privately owned Deadman Wonderland Amusement Park / Prison and it seems he had something to do with setting him up as well because he was actually able to see whatever it was that attacked his class and lived through it. Someone actually looked like him and confessed to everything but refused to give up the weapon in a video and everyone believed him to be guilty.

As for your question, from what I understand from them talking about taking a school field trip... the prison in located in Tokyo, Japan.

Honestly when I read the premise when this was first announced I had decided not to watch it, but something made me decide to pick it up and try it out anyways and I'm glad I did. It's exceeded any expectations I had (which wasn't much lol).

@Drumroll, it's only subbed since it just started airing a few weeks ago. SGKK at this time has only subbed the first two episodes.

it's pretty good, but gonna take forever to cover even the first part of the series

read ahead in manga xD

Well either they will have to get it done within the next 10 episodes or they'll have to license the show for another season as this is only planned to last 12 episodes and have one OVA at the current time.

Well after seeing the first 2 episodes, I can safely say this is going to be one awesome anime. I already can't wait for the next episode. Thanks for telling us about it. The OP is great as well.

Also when the race started it reminded me a lot about the movie Death Race lol.

Well, most anime usually get 25 episodes of Air time. If they're popular, they may get a second season and another set of 25 episodes.

If they become REALLY REALLY popular (One Piece, Fairy Tail, Naruto), they can continue indefinitely.

The anime series I've seen which have 12-13 episodes (HOTD, The World God Only Knows, Disgaea), i think they're mostly meant for advertisement purposes for the manga. It's based on the age-old principle that most people would rather watch TV rather than read a book.

But, when they get into the story, they become curious as to what happens next and start reading the manga. (Just a theory, please don't flame me.)

I'm a rather big fan of the manga so of course I'd have very high expectations of the animu.. So far it's really good. I can't wait for Genkaku to show up *u*

It's interesting that the covered the fake trial a bit more though, since they didn't really do that in the manga. But the reason why he was sentenced to death is because they already knew that Red Egg had shown up in front of him and he lived though it. ...I'm stopping now before I get spoilery.

  • 4 weeks later...

Soo, after episode 5, Shiro is now sexy AND scary(god that smile at the end"shivers"), I noticed she has the same smile as the Red man as well, It's just a thought, but since she's never around when the Redman is around, maybe she's.....?
