The magic system was brilliant allowing all your characters customization by choosing what kind of materia you wanted to equip them with. A story that could blow you away. I mean, his father abused him, his mother ignored him when his father was around, and always had to live up to Jecht's legend.Souldn't he have a complex? leylia23 Posted November 9, 2010 Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 For those of you who tried ff7 and say they didn't like it was it the first ff that you played. if you tried later ffs first then it stands to reason it would be difficult to get into due to the lower caliber graphics it offered. I'm by no means saying it is the best ff i'm just saying i thought the story was phenomenal. I can think of very few stories i liked more one being that of 6 or 3 for the snes in the us. Combat was simple, but fun, and you weren't completely limited by a character's "class" as you could customize their commands at will.It was a good mix of linearity and freedom that you don't see that often. The sidequests were genuinely enjoyable and the interactive elements may be considered the precusor to the modern Quick Time Event.Others before it may have done these things, but none quite so well. sjgjnr Posted January 17, 2011 Report Share Posted January 17, 2011 final fantasy were to begin....if you played this when it first came out you should know at the time ff7 had the best graphics than any other game without a doubt, i mean watching those sommons come to life was amazing i loved it and still do. its funny cuz when i play it now i still look at it and remember how good i thought it was but now compared to the ps3 its shit!ha but i stll think its great!!!now the story, i think because you had to read what was being said ie the story you took it in more, sort of like a book when you cant stop reading it because your so drawn in, your dying to find out what happens next( i played these game for whole days at a time when it 1st came out!) and because there was no voice acting your concentration level at the time when playing is like... well, the walls around you could be falling down and you still wouldnt look away from the screen!Then the charcters from the whole bad corporation Shinra, that fat general with that dodgy name that i still cant say properly "Heideggar"!, the Turks Reno, Rude , Elena and poor Tseng, dint last long did ya mate! Reno id say is the better out of lot crazy fool!Then the terrorist group avalanche set on destroying shinra for the sake of the planet, very admirable! first off Barret , badass muther f*@ka with a rail gun inatead of a hand what else can i say! the rest of the group Jesse, Biggs i know there somone else but o'well, they dont stay around long but are good little sub characters to start off! Tifa boom boom! Aeries/Aerith the last living ancient, see ya!ha CLOUD ultimate hero solider boy! greatest chraracter ever created full stop! sephiroth crazy jap with a 20ft sword, plus some serious behaviour problems! greatest game villian of all time! so many good characters, theres no end to them! now to blitz this.....the mini games within ff7, gold saucer, arm wresting, virtual fighting, the battle arena, chocobo racing, raising and breeding certain chocobo to finally get a gold one that can go anywhere on the world map, great! now the fighting the turn based stratedgy with those summons, the way you can equip each character with different materia and plus the way you can master each materia to grow more, i still think the battle sequence in ff7 is the best out of all the games espicially the newer ones but id say13+10 would shortly follow! there is so much more this game has compared to the rest its by far the best ff game ever and imo and for ever will be(unless they do a hd remake for the ps3 exactly the same!)but i think 8+9 do pretty well to keep up.The world map a must in ff squareenix come on listen to your fans!!there is so much more that i could write but im starting to see bone at the end of my fingers so maybe next time. It was the first 3D FF game I know of, and caught a lot of attention because of the badass main character Cloud. On top of that it was a good game. There was already a bunch of FF good games in the past that were popular so they got the old audience as well as new ones. Sucks now days the FF franchise is ruined with just a bunch of pointless MMO's and stuff thats just not interesting started to die at 9 got brought back at 10 then died again at 11. at lest to me everyone has their opinions. idl12 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Share Posted January 17, 2011 For me, it was the overall attractiveness of the characters(female) and the setting, I tend to love stories set in a depressing, humanity is dying, steampunk kind of environment even with the old outdated graphics, the music, the atmosphere and the overall badassness of the story and characters more than made up for it, I mean come on, who doesn't go crazy when they hear sephiroth's theme one winged Angel. A lot of people hate on the game because they say cloud is emo/overrated and what not, but the majority of those people saw Advent children before playing the game in which he was personified rather differently. FF13 broke the record in sales, yet I'd say it was even worse than 7. People buy it because they don't know what to expect before they actually play it. Hell I knew it would be bad before buying it but even I bought it eventually. Just because something sells doesn't mean it was something good or that everyone liked it. You are clearly acting like you're butthurt that your overrated game got booted and so you are saying stuff that doesn't even hold true. Sales seriously do not mean a game is good. It just means it sells. People buy it and then can realize it sucks afterwords.
