Both of the sigs you made look great ^_^. You're off at a nice start. What program are you using? I'm more than happy to teach you what I know about making sigs. Feel free to ask me for help any time.

My first attempt sucks :P... all I did was cut out part of a wallpaper I liked and put my name on it XD.

I use Gimp, and It was pointed out that I made a mistake on the Christmas one, I miss spelled it...

nice, that's about the extent of what I can do except I can't do borders around anything, And I found out how to use renders...

you did quite well, kak. but for a few pointers -

1) Edward looks a bit squished in the sig, so whenever you scale a render down, try to keep the aspect ratio fixed whenever possible.

2) the background really doesn't go well with the theme of the sig. try using color balance to make the two images sort of merge.

3) the text color and size really aren't going well with the background. Ive found it best hat you avoid using opposite colors for BG and text (Red and Blue, Green and Orange, etc)

lastly, and this is just something i do, in order to make your render seem merged with the rest of the sig, try this method.

A) goto Transparency -> Alpha to Selection

B) Select -> Invert

C) Select -> Feather (about 15 to 20)

D) Edit -> Clear

this should make you render a bit blurry along the edges.

That aside, fantastic first sig mate.

and yes, mine was worse. see for yourself -

I just took some random brushes, put in a render and added color. and of course, the blue text.

This is how I personally make borders in gimp... say for example your sig is 350x110... open a new window (say you want a 1 pixel border) make the new window 352x112... fill it with black (or whatever color you want your border to be) then right click on your sig and click copy visible... paste it in the new window. I personally save all my sigs as png. I found this to be the easiest way to make a border ^_^. There are other ways, but I don't bother with them.

Edit: I can tell you another way if you don't like this method.
