Final Fantasy XIV: Anyone played it yet?

I've been debating whether or not to get XIV for my computer. Anyone else here played it, and if so, would you recommend it before I spend the 50+ bucks on it?

is it the one which square completely RUINED by limiting the hours of gameplay in a day, thus making it a pain for people to level up?

I have not played it, though I was considering it a while back for my PC, but I heard very nasty things about it FOR the PC. It didn't work right at all for the computer. So if you have a ps3 I would wait till that version comes in March.

Same here, hopefully they change it for the PS3 to make it good.

im currently playing and i like it but there is a down side they do limit the time at which you level and receive reasonable experience. i guess its there ploy to keep it a game rather than someones life.

I refuse to play an MMORPG version of the game. I think it ruins it

I've been playing the game since the July Beta and I absolutely love it. Sure, it's a new MMO so teenagers are lining up to file complaints about how it's not /their/ ideal game, but so far the players have been given 90 days free gameplay courtesy of SE. Plus the devs have been listening to people's complaints and have updated the game to fit the needs of both casual and hardcore gamers. A lot of people don't like being able to only have a few hours a day to play and as a result fall massively behind their friends.

I've been playing it but put it on hold as they have Nov and Dec updates to completely overhaul the game and in doing so they have extended the free trail period twice.. so it is extremely difficult to establish what mobs you can solo compared to those you can get your face rolled.. the UI has a huge lag of like 5 seconds before you open any menu and synthesis recipes are a fun mini game but no way of telling how much you will fail or succeed at making anything.. there is no listed level that is required for any item to be made.. all in all i myself am waiting for the updates before diving back into the game as the major thing im annoyed of is the UI lag and not being able to sort inventory... i hate spending an hour going through my bags and bank to clear out junk to sell and items to keep..

its very pretty...... but thats about it, i havent played it since "fixed" so i cant comment if they have updated the start of the game, but from when i played it,starting out i didnt know what to do, and it gave me no instructions till i walked around and spoke to everyone that was there

What? Now I'm curious about XIV and the way it plays/works.

They limit how many hours you can play per day? Thats pretty stupid, especially the fact that it's running on a monthly pay service?... I think that just put a nail into the coffin, anyone else?

I agree with Tolf that this game might actually be really good despite being overlooked by the whiny complainers but limiting a subscriber's gameplay time is pretty dumb. I honestly looked forward to picking this up one day too.

I played it during beta but decided not to go ahead and purchase it...

I played FFXI (the other online one) for several years and really liked it so I was going to give FFXIV a chance. I probably won't be playing it mainly because the fundamental design of the game just isn't for me.

They did change the development team but i'm not sure if they could bring it back from the grave... i'll just have to wait and see.

i got it play it for 3hr then came off it too hard to lvl up & a lil broing for me i wish there make it lil bitter

I played the beta, I wouldn't recommend it to someone who loves PC and dislikes console. The reason is, it seems the PC version is designed as if it were to be played through a console, simple mmorpg things like pushing one key to reach your quest log doesnt exist, instead you have to go through the hassle of going to the menu everytime. If you are a patient guy and wont get annoyed I recommend you play this game, the quests are nice, graphics are amazing and its a friendly environment, well at least the servers I played on were.

i was in the alpha the beta and had the game. so trust me when I say its not worth even trying. it was terrible the game actually wasnt even supposed to be out for another year they rushed it and ruined it

A lot of others are saying that they alpha/beta tested for it but they haven't brought any real discouraging information to explain why FFXIV is "trash" compared to other mmos. So far I've read that players hours are limited to a certain amount a day which effectively handicaps leveling as understood. But nobody else has gone into explaining the "free subscription to all current subscribers" that I keep reading about.

So far people have just been rolling the ball into the "fail" court without even trying to shoot for points. I'd like to try FFXIV myself and be my own judge but I don't have the means to.

but one think i HOPE they have/bring into XIV is a BST job BST rules almost everyjob out there i think
