FoolyDave
I watched pokemon, digimon and Dragon Ball Z when I was younger, but didn't really know what anime was. Then I watched Bleach a couple years ago and thought it was awesome, so i then watched Naruto and One piece. Now I've watched too many that I can't remember them all ... KiraDeath
I'm sure like most people, Cartoon Network's Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing. It was all game from there.

Baby-Blue
My cousin, who is 1 year older than I am, loves anime and she always made me watch it with her. I still remember the first anime she made me watch - Death Note.I was bored out of my mind. But eventually (about three years later) I rewatched it and that kind of pulled me back into an anime frenzy.
dmjohn0x
Dragonball when I was younger. Also, video games. i grew up on JRPGs and horrible Dragonball dubs on at 5am on Channel 2. Was a long time before Z took off in the states, but when it did, I was right there.

Moebius Strip
That would be the SciFi (now SyFy...) channel's anime broadcasts. Specifically, it was their "Anime '97" week (Iria, Green Legend Ran, Armitage, and something else...?) that opened my eyes.

adybrawler
Back when I was like 4/5 years old I'd spend my days watching things like Cardcaptor Sakura, Zoids, Beyblade, Digimon, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, all of which have influenced me greatly in becoming the anime enthusiast I am today
infernal91
Dragon Ball was the first anime I watched when I was about 6, but I would say Pokemon was the one that got my attention.
Astral_Goddess
One of my friends got me into it by talking about it a lot. Started searching for anime to watch and I gradually got to like anime a whole lot.
Cothdor
At first I was a closed minded and thought of anime as regular cartoons. Then I watched Trigun! Now I have seen a whole lot. So many years ago... Only watched Trigun that once I think I should give it a watch again.
Tanis
Either Ronin Warriors or Pokemon. But the first 'anime that I KNEW was anime'...was probably Vision of Escaflowne. 'Shadow Of Doubt' was actually the first song I ever downloaded off of Napster. Ecio
Like many have mentioned, I would say it was Dragon Ball Z during the mid 90's. Not only that, but also Yu-gi-oh! Duel Monsters - I have always thought to myself, why is this children's card game so exciting to me? Then things started to unravel and found myself drawing closer to the darker area of the anime fan world. professa X
Man like others said i was watching anime without realizing it. DBZ, Sailormoon, Escaflowne, Digimon, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh. I didn't. know that was anime. In school people used to make fun of the anime group becuz of their cosplay. So without looking it up i understood it as that weird. But then a year back a friend introduced me to fairytail. He called it anime after he described it as DBZ. From that day i was converted and have become a hardcore Otaku! reizerozero
My first ever exposure to Anime was Laputa, years ago, I cant quite remember my age at the time, maybe 7 or 8 something like that. Anyway a tv station at the time was showing Castle in the sky in two parts, like a TV special. I was awestruck, captivated by it. Of course I was to young to know about anime, who made it or pay attention to its name, but over the years the memory of watching it stuck with me. I tried for well over 10 years to find the film again, but with no name and only fond memories to go on, I didn't have any luck. By now I was really getting into anime and was vaguely aware of Studio Ghibli films, so at a bargain store I found some old movies of theirs, bought them and went home. Picked one at random to watch, sat down, opening credits go by and there it was the movie I was looking for after all that time, I really cant describe how I felt when I realised that I had found it by chance, but watching it, I was like I was a kid again. Its possibly my favourite movie, probably due in no small part too the fond memories of watching it back then and my 10 year plus quest to find it. I would call this my real introduction to anime, even if I was to young to know it at the time, it stuck with me. Kind regard Rei
radicalnav
For me I gotta saw the early 'better' Toonami played a role. But I think the biggest was DB and DBZ! Then not sure what happened, but I kept watching anime!
