NeutralHatred
Pretty sure it needs to be reformatted.
sameer
kitkat, do you have something like "Import foreign Disk" option on right clicking that invalid disk in left column of disk management.
sfaxt
yeah well according to MS it cannot https://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/cc755238(v=ws.11).aspx Back up all volumes on the disk you want to convert from dynamic to basic. In Disk Management, right-click each volume on the dynamic disk you want to convert to a basic disk, and then click Delete Volume for each volume on the disk. When all volumes on the disk have been deleted, right-click the disk, and then click Convert to Basic Disk. anyway theres this that claims that can do it without data loss https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/repair-invalid-dynamic-disk-without-data-loss.html its quite reputable but to my experience those claims aren't always true due to OS limitations. idk about this case in particular. but as a last solution if you cant reclaim your data keep it in mind as a first try id check with a linux live cd or installation or something to see if you can get your data before doing anything Edited February 6, 2018 by sfaxt

thedoctor2014
I've never heard of this problem, but always good to learn about it before it happens. Hope you got your files safely recovered.
