Hello I am new here, but I wanna say Something about this topic. We all know the movie is being made but wouldn't season 2 be called season 3 instead if the movie is honestly an sequel after season 1?

Well, officially I don't believe there is a title yet for a season 2 of Yuri On Ice, if there even will be one (has not been confirmed anywhere at a glance).

 

Regardless, "season" generally only refers to televised episodic shows, not movies. The term season in particular refers to how TV series always start roughly around the same time each year and move in a cycle, just like the seasons. Movies don't really follow this trend (though they do have seasons of their own, but - being non-repeating things - it doesn't really apply), so we don't refer to them as seasons or count them when discussing the seasons of a show.
