Playing Mkv files on Ps Vita?

You can mux a mkv into a mp4 pretty easily. I'd use Yamb. It takes about 5 seconds to do per file, and can be batched. Above all there isn't any quality loss.

Thanks for the info mate i will try this out.

Hmm but can it play 720p files or 1080p? If I recall the original PSP didn't allow you to play some files if the resolution is too big for the screen. Surprisingly my tablet is able to handle 1080p easily, but that's to be expected I suppose.

It should be able to handle 720p dunno about 1080 though the graphics for the ps vita are good i think they are near ps3 quality and you can download and play hd videos on them so i assume it can handle 720p at the least.

I hardsub anime i download into mp4 using MeGUI, MKV ToolNix & Yamb...i make them mp4, so i can watch them on my PS3, because my laptops resolution only goes to 720P...so i can enjoy full HD, surround sound audio, and styled subs (.ass)...i DONT know if my method would work for a PS Vita (Dont own one, so cant tell you for sure), but if you want i can upload a video i hardsubbed that is compatible with the PS3 to FileFactory, then you can check if it is PS Vita compatible...if it is, i can explain to you the method i go about doing it...but ill tell you right now, you have to encode the video, so it does take time...but its REALLY simple...i can send you a preset for encoding in MeGUI...

It may help to find out what the vita supports. If it only support High 3.2, and you're feeding it Hi10p 4.1. Then I doubt the container used will matter. You also might want to check on the number of reference frames. I believe some hardware is limited in this area as well.

Indeed. I looked up the PS Vita AVC Lv, and it is 3.1....my method uses 4.1, but can be changed to 3.1 in a single click...ill encode, and mux a video into Mpeg-4 using AVC Lv 3.1, and upload it....my apologies for not uploading a video earlier, i havent had the time to do upload it :(

P.S

Also, I read that the PS Vita can only handle 720P at max...but its such a small screen, that the quality loss from 1080P shouldnt be noticeable ;)
