When he goes to the store he enters the elevator and reaches the ground floor with it; however, when he returns from the store he also goes with the elevator but only till the 8th floor after which he continues by foot, that is, by stairs. I have several ideas of what it could be... 1: The elevator only goes up to the 8th floor... 2: The elevator broke so he had to walk the rest of the way... 3: He could have stopped on the 8th floor to meet someone... 4: He could have reached a weight limit and had to get off the elevator... 5: Hes trying to exercise so he took the stairs to burn some carbs... lol.... all of these are probably wrong XD... you got me on this one.
