ReaperOfCyanide
Peter Jackson did a pretty darn good job, but I think somethings missing... What do you think?

Diabetus boy
I believe and have always believed that novels will make the movies look like garbage, unless the novels are screenplays, then the movie looks amazing.
† Talena Mae
i quite enjoyed them both, i found the moves action packed while keeping close to the actual story line, and in the books, parts of it were so long winded i had to force myself to read on xD
Shinato
Well I have only read the first book. The reason for this was because Peter Jackson had practically filmed everything from the book. The only things he edited was Legolas' personality slightly and the fact that Frodo went to Rivendell immediately instead of waiting 20 years-ish. Peter Jackson did a great job. lemmingllama
The movies are superior to the books simply because the books have too much detail written and the detail can be immediately shown in the movies. Also, it holds to the storyline well
phily880
Hands down the best book to movie job ever. I preferred the movies as well due to the fact that the books could get a little tedious at points.
† Ferocia Coutura
As far as I am concerned, best book-to-movie ever done.
akirala
Having never read the books, the only thing that was missing in my opinion was Tom Bombadillo
atreyuavenged
Was just gonna say that. Tom Bombadil was missing, would've been interesting to see him and the wraiths and stuff. But awesome book and series. Cannot wait for the Hobbit.
draigthedm
they cut tom bombadil and that was my favorite part of the book, but between leaving the shire and reaching rivendell was the hardest part to read
AKillzo
i think so with the extended versions they did the books justice

aakash01manu
Definitely - The series is one of my favorites.
deusxanime
I enjoyed both. The books are classics and great reads. I think the movies (especially the extended versions) are probably the best book to movie translation done. Sure some things were cut, there's no way they could have made them otherwise in a reasonable time or budget. But it was so well done that I don't even mind. And I know everyone complains about no Tom Bombadil, but honestly he did almost nothing in the novel and was probably one of the first and easiest things cut.
