Caught on Tape: Security Guards Stand By as Girl Brutally Attacked

It says: They're contract workers from Olympic Security Services out of Tukwila. According to their contract, the guards are to "observe and report" problems, not to get involved. Metro Transit General Manager Kevin Desmond says that policy is now out of date.

But that is still just ridiculous. The guards could have easily prevented or done something. Why would they even be being paid to be "security guards" if they just stand back and ignore the people they are there to protect?

Yes whether it was their job or not, they should have stepped in and done something. Hell some one else who was just passing by should have done something. But that's just the mentality of the world these days. If it isn't happening to them, people just don't give a damn.

Well if they'd have jumped in odds are they'd have done more harm than good. They have nightsticks if that, these guys have guns. Watching was a dumb idea, instead of going to get help, but they don't get trained for this type of situation whatsoever. They're basically mallcops, and I know I'd freeze up if I saw something like that.

Wow, no one did anything to help. Not even the said witness. She shouldn't really be complaining if she didn't even try to help either. But I do understand her view, three male guards and not even tryin' to help the girl. The girl was standing close to them for a reason. I feel so bad for her now, even though this was probably ages ago.

Wow...that's just...I mean..... WTF IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!?!?!? O_O

Wait, why am I complaining? I'm an evil demonic overlord who shouldn't be giving a flying F***. O_O Ah well, I suppose that is going abit beyond evil. If they ever ended up in my domain, I'd torment the living hell out of them for standing their like retards. I mean seriously, WTF!?!?!? X_X

If I was one of those guards, I don't give a rat's behind (im going to censor myself more) about some rechid contract, I would've helped her. And since she was not moving... I would've defiantly see if she was okay... cuz if I did this and got fired... I would've helped someone and not've had the guilt of knowing if she survived or if she was in some sort of critical condition.

Recently on the news, they showed a clip from a surveillance camera about some lady getting mugged, and a bystander guy came to help the lady, pulling the mugger away from her, but in the process, got stabbed by the mugger. The mugger then ran off, and the guy tried to chase after the mugger but shortly collapsed on the ground (still within the camera's view). After a few hours, it shows on the camera that a bunch of people walk by, look briefly at the body on the ground, and would then walk off. One black guy stopped, took a picture with his cell phone, and then walked off. Many hours later, an officer finally came and checked the guy to find the guy was dead. X_X

When they showed that on the news, I was absolutely dumbfounded. And they said this isn't the first case people didn't help others (and then on the news they showed brief clips of other incidents including the one stated on the first page of this thread). I can't even begin to imagine why this is happening in our society. I don't know where to find the video, but if someone can find the news about this incident (I live in Florida, and I think I saw it on Channel 2 WESH News, or was it Channel 9 NBC News?), please post the link to the video.

That was just plain Disgusting, What the hell is? Are these Guards even Armed with handguns?! (Hell, Even mall security here have Standard 9mm's on standby)

And i don't give a shit what there damn contract says, they should've stepped in . Thats no excuse to let some young girl get beaten brutally, thats just unprofessional. They must have had something to bring out even Non-lethal force (Pepper spray, Taser, Battons etc) that could've stopped this.

I'm not condoning the the LACK of action the supervisory guards took. yes they are supervisory only, not actual guards, their job is to report activity not stop it, which as the video shows, they did not even report it. however...

In todays F***ed up society, if the guards had stepped in on their own accord as decent individuals and as true men to stop this from happening, it is likely if the attacker or the victim had gotten hurt they could have likely sued the guards and it may have won in court. It happens too often. a man was sued because a woman got into a wreck and her car was on fire. while pulling her from the car, he broke her arm and he sustained second and third degree burns. she sued him and won. he was a pedestrian that chose to help because the cops and fire dept were not there in time. The best intentions of mice and men never go unpunished. a womens house got broken into, the theif broke through the skylight and fell onto the counter where the older woman had left a cooking knife. the theif sued the old lady and won. multiple times per month across the country, dogs are put to sleep for being a "menace to society" because someone went to break into a house and the dog mauled them and they sued the owners. be clear on laws in your state. the reason i love the state of Nevada among other reasons, if someone breaks into my house and i shoot them as long as they are in my house with a weapon that shows intent to harm then there is a short investigation and the case is closed. No this has not happened to me. this is strictly for instance.

honestly though, the fact that the guards didn't even stand in the way and try and block the girl from getting hit is what impresses me, then they didn't even check to see if she was alive. and then next, there were other people there, why didn't they do something??? civility is not placed only with those that responsibility is placed on, if it is, then that person has given up all rights to their own life.
