VolvoKing
We didn't get out of the building fast enough. In my dept. I didn't even hear the alarm because of the grinder I was using. I heard it when someone yelled and I stopped working, and it was still muffled with the ear plugs. Some changes are going to be made. Like red flashing lights so we can see that the alarm is going off.
† Talena Mae
They should have had that anyway in a workplace with loud noises, there should also be something like an "auto shut off switch" so all the machines you are working on will shut down in a situation like that (imo). VolvoKing
Apparently the last fire drill they had was 2 years ago when they had a fire. I don't know what the big deal is about I've set my dept. on fire 4 times and I just put it out.
† Talena Mae
Workplace safety dear =S In Australia all workplaces have fire drills on irregular bases, apparently it helps save lives.
VolvoKing
We are starting too but the fire system does get checked every year. It is not mandatory for upgrades unless the building is being sold. Here in Canada.
lemmingllama
Yeah, but people dont like fire drills because it stops people from working. Really most fires could easily be put out if people were smart, unless you work in a place that makes pure hydrogen or oxygen
VolvoKing
We use oxygen, helium, nitrogen and argon. Plus we have natural gas heating all over the plant.
lemmingllama
Hmmmm. Thats just a tad unsafe then. Flashing lights would be useful! Our office is smart, they installed sprinklers so that all the computer hardware will be wrecked if there is a fire!

† Shazi
they're not very regular.... it doesn't help if someone wasn't there and missed it and they don't have one for another what 12 months?
VolvoKing
The gases are used for welding and the laser cutter and we do have sprinklers. I get showered with sparks all the time when I'm working.

lemmingllama
Just find a glassblower and they could make the balls with stars in them. Might not be as fancy but would be a lot cheaper and easier to do

I am not a ghost2. Fire drills dont have fires unless its a flaming drill(the kind that is hand operated)3. Dont even dare to say that Canadians are ghostsOh and check Seed Hallway, I changed up my greeting a lot
