Lelouch1199
I watch anime because I love the stories and character development but being a guy I don't mind a little fanservice now and then, but sometimes shows become so obsessed with showing of the main characters panties they forget about the story. So I pose this question, which anime series in your opinion has found a good balance between boobs and story?Lelouch119911th Prince of Britannia99th Emperor of the Holy Britannian EmpireI Lelouch vi Britannia command you, now all of you.....WATCH ANIME! Lelouch1199
fairy tail has quite a good thing going on at the moment.I have watched the first episode of fairy tail and while it did not captivate me it's not a series that I have written off. I intend to watch a few more episodes before I develop a conclusion.
lemmingllama
HotD has its own unique balance of fanservice and plotline. If you havent watched it yet, its one I would reccomend
Koby
HotD has its own unique balance of fanservice and plotline. If you havent watched it yet, its one I would reccomendNo, just no. HotD is a prime example of how too much ruins it. The manga is superior because it had a story. The anime forgot it had a story and because of some of the retarded fanservice it made the zombies laughable at best.. if you even remembered the fact there were zombies to start with... as the story forgot they existed multiple times. However, it is still a popular action anime with a unique amount of fanservice and story. And as for zombies being laughable, I cant really imagine an anime with scary zombies. But just my opinion
Avith
Although many of you may disagree, I think Ikki Tousen (but only seasons 1 & 2), Kenichi, Needless and Tenjou Tenge did a great job with this. Martial arts action + ecchi + decent storyline = commonly a good series ... to me anyways. However, it can also depend on my prefrence at the time and how good the story/action is, as it may not need any fanservice. Fanservice is not a bad thing as long as it doesn't disturb the theme on the series.
Boundless
I prefer more fanservice (just preference) in a comedy, in a drama I need very little (i.e Rangikou from Bleach)
Dan Den
Yeah fan service is pretty great and by great I mean awesome, I usually like having it in just about any series as long as it doesn't fuck up the stories *cough HOTD cough*. But series I enjoyed watching it in were like Ikkitousen, sure the fight scenes weren't that epic but the story line more than compensated for it. And another one would be Girls Bravo there was tons of fan service in it but it didn't ruin the story in any way rather the opposite it made it a million time better. Reptoholic
With the limited amount that I have watched, I think a good balance would be like Air Gear. There was not a lot of fan service, just enough to make it funny. It was sporadic , I believe, not in every episode.
Bardon
I'm sorry but I can NEVER ever be convinced that a person would get turned on AND enjoy a good story at the exact same freaking moment.... =P The emotions just do not match. I may dislike the ideas of fanservice/ecchi/harem/moe in general but I still fail to see the possibility of two completely different backgrounds ever getting a good mix. Case and point is HotD, the story was based on a zombie invasion which was majorly dark and horror themed. But instead it got flooded with girls showing cleavage/panties literally on every episode that you might be watching. I mean WTH? Next thing you know you're looking at a scene with blood/gore spilling on one side while girl showing off her panties on the other. Even a normal person would get confused on which side he's supposed to be looking at coz it really is that ridiculous. Tenjou tengue was another disaster, the story it had was weak by default. More than half of it was a huge flashback and the ending was a complete cliffhanger. I already said I find fanservice to be pointless so not even that saved it for me.With the limited amount that I have watched, I think a good balance would be like Air Gear. There was not a lot of fan service, just enough to make it funny.ARE YOU BLEEPING KIDDING ME?!?! Air gear was no where near "balanced" since it had enough fanservice to make the thing borderlined. Comedic yes but it was definitely NOT balanced. You'd think the opening would give it away as a action/sports based show but sadly once you see the episodes you would only be disappointed. (like I was when I tried it)There, I just pointed out 3 anime which prove my hate for writers who make their stories in appearance to be good but then the moment they are released they throw in all sorts of random fanservice just to make it appealing to more than one kind of audience. Those idiots fail to realize that when writing a story you don't need elements that have zero relation to the plot, all that does is either becomes too distracting or just gets influenced to be added in the list of shows for pervy viewers. Situational moments are questionable but certainly not if they are repeated throughout the entire damn show! >.> Either make a story thats SUPPOSED to be based on ecchiness or write a porno but DO NOT pollute other stories with stuff that they don't need.~End rant
Reptoholic
lol compared to like Kankon, sekirei and Highschool of the dead I thought it was pretty moderate. more than some , less than others. I could do without it all, too much takes away from the story, with just some, it gives it a funny aspect.
shadowtheman
Your all talking Otaku A and Otaku B as its put in Japan. Otaku A's are the type that go for quality animation and a great story, an over all quality anime. While Otaku b is an individual who only cares about that pantie shot and how many times you can pause the show for something moe. For the past five years the makers of mangas and animes have been selling out to the b crowd due to the fact that Otaku b's are more likely to shell out the doe for the one "priceless" pantie shot. I guess that makes us lean more towards the Otaku A side of things; and that I agree. I've always like animes that had depth within the main story and characters that had great development. The only exception to this in my mind is when fan service is apart of the comedy of a show and not the only reason why the show exists. Sence were venting on overly moe shows check out kiss sis. Ohhh wait, you better not. If your fam finds out they will think your watching hentai. That's how bad that stuff gets.
DrumRoll
I think its possible to find a comfortable balance, just a good bit of peripheral fanservice. Although, i didn't mind HOTD too much, that anime was like a sugar rush, or a guilty pleasure:D

Although, i didn't mind HOTD too much, that anime was like a sugar rush, or a guilty pleasure:DYeah I know the feeling HOTD just made you keep coming back especially starting at episode 6 were things just got out of hand.My favorite one where the story was just fine and in my opinion the fan service made it great was Queens Blade, man now this is what I call a full burst of fan service I could no contain my self. That show is what they call the elixir of anime fans. The story was great in my opinion and the fan service went along just right, I guess you could call it a nearly perfect combination.
