Elnidfse
Well I was talkign with a friend of mine about 2D fighters. I say they're alive and well. He's saying they're dying. Is that true?
Ronin
What do you mean by 2D Fighter, like Street Fighter, or Streets of Rage?
Visual_Kei
It's pretty much alive to me, but if he say it's dying, it terms, it might be because the lack of 2D fighters that are being produced. Ah well, people still play the old-school games and recent fighters, all enjoyable. But It would be nice to see a new SF soon or KOF. Hypnotiq
I don't think they are dying, just considered classics now since there are so many around.Maybe there will be newer versions out. Only time will tell.
Guest Destiny Angel
I don't think they are, it's just that the games they have for them are so damn rare.
Jewell
I hope not. I still prefer 2D fighters over 3D.
Koby
I believe they are for the simple fact everything is becoming better graphic's wise, and they are mostly making only 3d games. Most of the 2d games being done are for portables like the GBA, etc.. now days.
Anooxy
They will die soon or later, anyway.
Elnidfse
Yeah... Capcom pretty much said they have stopped with 2d fighters. They're done with em... Which makes me particularly sad since I like SF games. Guess that leaves us with SNK and GG. Oh well. hopefully castlevania will stay strong. Sean Eats Airplane
There's a large ammount of competitions, with 2DFighter titles. Guilty Gear/ Street Fighter/KoF, etc. So, I say nay. it's alive.
Visual_Kei
^still kicking. Evo2k7 was awesome, nice comeback with Jwong with cyclops vs. cable/storm/psylocke. GGAC opened too for Evo2k7.. you should look into that. Street Fighter II HYPER FIGHTER is just a redone ver. of the old school and still players cont. to have epic battles in the tournaments. Not sure the word dying is the right thing to label fighting games, but it's still kicking.
ZidaneFC
Yeah, 2D fighters won't be dieing anytime soon. Just because most other genres are moving to 3D doesn't mean that 2D fighters will lose the insane amount of attention they've been getting over the years. That Cyclops comeback was insane =/. Pulse
The Biggest 2D fighters are available on the Xbox and Wii market place, they wont be going anywhere in my opinion.
Hypnotiq
Yes that comeback by wong was pretty amazing, didn't surprise me since he kicks ass.
Visual_Kei
waiting for the video of Jwong vs. DP(DarkPrince), and this time, Jwong isn't using Storm,Cyclop, and Magneto.. It's a very lopsided team of Jill, Ken, and Ruby Heart... vs. DarkPrince's Cable, Sentinel, Cap.Commando (Capcom).. insane.
orangeLemon
They probably won't "die" for a while, seeing as they are now considered classics and with the new systems selling classics they'll probably be around for a while.
