Oh, Hai There!

Hey there - I'm the new guy. (Or one of them, at least!)

I've been coming to the kametsu site for some time (make it a year?) Incidentally, that's pretty much the same time that I've been watching anime on a regular/semi-regular basis. (Yes, I know there are probably some total otakus here sneering at me, but do bear with me for the moment.)

I'm, like, 23, and Indian (dot, not feather), and currently in a line of work that involves sitting with a desktop for 9 hours a day. Pretty typical, as things go. And till about a year ago, my only experience with anime was Rurouni Kenshin (which I used to know as Samurai X) that I'd watched in middle school. I'd loved it, but the movies (first and second only, thanks) totally blew me away. The second, especially (I mean, yeah, tell me one anime movie that trumps Trust and Betrayal on sheer awesomeness and emotional impact - and if somebody is saying Grave of the Fireflies, I will personally go to your home and slap you, lol).

But I digress.

About a year ago, as a new guy at work, I was selected to go and train some even newer guys on programming and stuff (I specialize at C++/'nix). So I went to another state where there wasn't much to see around. But there was a very good unlimited uncapped and free net connection that my company graciously provided me.

Cue, Rurouni Kenshin downloads.

Cue, Bleach (been hearing about it on the net for years - this is where kametsu came in - thanks, Google). Then Fate/Stay Night. Then Black Lagoon. Death Note. Code Geass. Elfen Lied. Darker than Black. All in a month and a half.

Yeah, got kinda hooked. And been so ever since. And then I branched over to mangas (in College, I had read FMA, Blade of the Immortal and Freesia but never got around to finishing them - was more interested in Comics like Lucifer/Sandman). And Light Novels (FMP <3, also To Aru Majutsu no Index).

So, yeah. Hi.

Top 5 favourite anime:

1> Ruroni Kenshin

2> Death Note

3> Black Lagoon

4> FMA/FMA:B

5> Elfen Lied

To-watch list in the foreseeable future: Clannad, Berserk, Claymore, Fruits Basket.

Laters!

How can you ignore an intro like that! Welcome and enjoy the forums!

I still think Akira is a great anime movie...I watched it again the other night and seriously is there ANYTHING dubbed in English that Johnny Young Bosch isn't involved in? Between him and Steven Blum (or whatever alias he is under at the time) i think the whole spectrum of anime is covered by them :)

Koudelka: yeah, but then again Johnny Young Bosch is one of the (few) redeeming points of English anime dubs, from what I hear. (Not that I've ever tried the Jap audios - the voices sound... girly. >_> <_< ._.'')

And Akira is a movie I've read some rave reviews about, something that I need to download soon!

Akira is quite old - 1988 i think it was - so if you don't like the older style animation it may not be for you despite its epic awesomeness...i think they are still trying to make a live action version.

I usually watch stuff in Japanese (I freely admit i am a fan of Daisuke Ono and I will watch just about anything he lends his voice too)...but I do like Johnny Young Bosch and Steven Blum so if i see their name against a dub version I'll watch it :)
