ss20
i've only just started brotherhood, but the animation looks really nice and i'm excited to watch the rest!
wmhld
either watch the 2003 version or read mangaBrotherhood just follows manga with much details deleted
Chrisman24
Both animes, to me, were really well done and it's hard to pick just one. If I had to choose though, I'd say the first fma anime.
blizarri
deinitely the origian...yes brotherhood has better animation but the original run had loads more impact and emotion than brotherhood!
Lenalee33
Personally I liked the first one the best, but brotherhood followed the manga more closely. The first one just seemed more exciting to me for some reason.
joshkh
the original series is so amazingly awesome. definitely my favourite series. just starting Brotherhood now, so i'm interested to see how it compares.
Shinigami King
TBH each one lacks key elements of the FMA Universe, but my favorite is a combination of both so you get the full scoop on what's going on, so I think that Funimation should release a combo pack that has the flasback episodes of each, which will eliminate the need of some episodes of Brotherhood & the other episodes appear as they occur in the timeline, if this makes sense. †Ferocia Coutura
Brotherhood, blatenly because of the fact that...In FMA its stated that Alchemy comes from the Tectonic Plate Movement, which is retarded and is not at all what it is in the manga. Brotherhood, on the other hand, has it correct. Sorry, but at least make the anime make sense with the manga *coughcoughsouleatercoughcough*. I hate it when anime strays too far away from the manga. Also, they didn't even have two of the homuncluses in FMA, and they even made up a character as the main antagonist. It was just all around stupid, in my opinion.FMA Brotherhood FTW!!!!♥
gank497
i hated when brother hood came out because al sounds like a little girl and all the voices dont fall into the right person
totrinh
i like both. they're good in there own way but i kinda like FMA a little more then brotherhood
ShinjiJ
I like both tbh, FMA Brotherhood makes more sense and easier to understand, and brings the storyline to a more natural conclusion. But the original FMA is more harder hitting storyline. 'The Conqueror of Shamballa' was a good carry on.
BawlzOfGlory
I really like the original but I have to say that I like Brotherhood MUCH more. The story is better, the characters are better, and just everything is better. Thats just how I feel.
Dan Den
Ok now I'm starting to get a bit confused, is there any difference between Full Metal Alchemist and Brotherhood. And if so is Brotherhood a continuation from the first series.Cause I keep going around seeing people saying Brotherhood was better than the first one and so fourth, it's just starting to rattle me.Am at episode 47 of the first series now and I already started downing Brotherhood. An if possible could someone give me in what order must I watch both series including movies and OVA's.
Koby
People who say Brotherhood is better are brainless idiots who only care about being faithful to the manga and ignore the actual part that matters: Character Development and Emotion. The difference between the two? FMA cared enough about the characters to flesh them out and made you enjoy the world of FMA. Although it caught up to the manga and thus the second half was all anime-original.FMAB on the other hand was made later and was suppose to be a faithful adaption, however it wasn't. It had better artwork, but decided to say FUCK YOU to newcomers and totally rush through the beginning, skipping a lot, and making some important stuff be forgotten. It also shit on the death of a certain character by putting absolutely no meaning or emphasis on it since it was rushed through. The actual story that came after was nothing more than generic shounen and the ending felt like it belonged in an episode of Dragon Ball Z instead of what we came to love about FMA. lemmingllama
To summarize, the beginning of FMA is the beginning of FMA Brotherhood, but the ending of FMA is different than FMA Brotherhood(which was faithful to manga). I would reccomend watching FMA first since you then understand the characters and then watch Brotherhood since its plot is superior.
Koby
I would reccomend watching FMA first since you then understand the characters and then watch Brotherhood since its plot is superior.Yes, I fully agree. I know my post may have sounded a bit overly harsh... but the way they handled FMAB.. you ABSOLUTELY MUST WATCH FMA FIRST. :/ Then watch Broterhood. Trust me you will not be able to enjoy Brotherhood without seeing the original to fill in the missing pieces and understand and feel for the characters.
