Ps3 controller

no you wouldn't. There are two reasons why.

The controller talks to the PS3 console via Bluetooth radio. Connecting it to a computer via a USB cable would only charge it (I've done that before).

Second, there are no official drivers for it. In laymen's terms, drivers are files that tell your computer how to talk with a device. In this case, how to talk with the controller. There are unofficial ones, but I don't recommend them.

If you must use the controller, then you need to get a Bluetooth adaptor for computer: it looks like a thumb drive and goes into a USB port. Then search for "PS3 Controller Driver" on Google. I've never bothered with this, so I can't recommend any sites. Make sure you get drivers for your version of Windows/Mac OS/whatever operating system you're using. Oh, and make sure you get either the Six-Axis or the Dualshock 3, depending on which controller you have.

In order to use a PS3 controller on a PC you would need to have drivers for it. I know there are drivers for the PS2 controllers but have not heard of any for the PS3.

Just did a google search and it popped up a bunch of of listings for PS3 controller on PC driver. I have never used any of them though, or heard of anyone else using them, so I would research before just blindly installing any of them on your computer.

If by chance you come across a good GunCon 3 to PC driver in your search please let me know, because I've been looking for one.

Yes you can use a PS3 controller on your Computer. My sister and I do it all the time.

One industrious modder out there has created a simple program so you can use your PS3′s SIXAXIS controller on a PC like a game pad. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

1. Download this
archive
and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).

2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe

3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.

4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.

5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn’t see it straight away.

Unfortunately, the motion sensing features aren’t possible on the PC (not yet as least). But still, this is pretty easy way to net yourself a free usable game pad.

Every time you plug the controller in to your computer you'll have to repeat steps 3 through 5.
