Koby
Proboards is not equal to SMF. And I like phpBB 3 more than SMF. SMF takes much more to load.I didn't say it was. All I said was SMF is owned and made by the same people as Yabb and is just an updated php version of Yabb, with alot better features and capabilities.. and that Proboards is run using Yabb software... so basically Proboards is an outdated cgi forum host. CGI is not as good as PHP, which is why CGI isn't used much for forums anymore.
Anooxy
Yeah, though I do see people use CGI for polls, while PHP has beaten it in all aspects.

Whiplash
Mine was called Shonen Anime or something like that. I wasn't too bad a member (for the month or so I was there before it closed down); I typed in proper english and I learnt what to do and what not to do by observing other members. I was a bit like the creepy old guy who sits a few seats behind you on the bus and just stares.
Sean Eats Airplane
Mine was anime-forums.com. Then I got bored of that, and joined up with Square-enix-forums. Soon after, I became incredibly active there.
WAIW
FFN. I was the biggest nub there for awhile, till one of the mods showed me how to type correctly.
Whiplash
You weren't the member who kept typing in caps and didn't seem to realise it, were you?
Guest wweii
FFN was my first forum as well. Not a bad place, just fell by the wayside.
Juneau
My first was local forum, the first International forum I joined was FFSpirit, right after LH left the place. When I joined there was this Wii competition so I pretty much spamed the place for a while then it ended and I calmed down Since then I've tried to improve my posting and I think that now I make much more sense then before. NRO
I would hardly call that competition.
Sean Eats Airplane
I actually don't remember what happened on that one, I know I didn't win it. I did get 3rd place on the first one, and won a poster.
NRO
Sadly we are talking about to separate things because I misinterpreted your post.
Visual_Kei
HongFire was the first forum, it's insanely huge with libraries of whatever you want. A mix of anime, manga, movies, games, and other digital goodies. Torrent site and such, I still visit there for my good source of visual and light novels. Adidaas
My first was Gaming Ground Zero a Rpg Maker site. At first I signed up to ask questions about Rm2k, but I came back after a couple months and became a regular. I don't recall being a noob or anything, I kinda kept to myself trying not to make myself look like an ass. Still going there to this day, a lot more quiet then it was back then, but I can't see myself ever leaving, unless they close it down, then yeah... ZidaneFC
First forum ever was SEF, Square-Enix-Forums. After that I branched out to a load of other forums but always came back to SEF. And finally it died of old age. What a shame.

Ronin
The first forum I joined was FFOnline, back when forums were a relatively new concept. It was quite difficult to act like a n00b, since nobody knew what one was, or really what to do on forums.
