Whether it's a romantic comedy or a drama, shoujo/josei or shounen/seinen, what's your favorite anime with romantic elements?

My personal favorites include Ore Monogatari, Tsuki ga Kirei, Say I Love You, and some old-school faves like Fruits Basket.

Recently I thought Tsurezure Children (2017) was very good : using a lot of quick cliché setups, not wasting any time.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (2011) is a favourite of mine : the romantic elements are omnipresent but never overstated, it's a very eccentric but also elegant anime.

Hyouka (2012) is a very refined show from Kyoto Animation, where the romance is slowly established in a sophisticated manner.

Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (Kare Kano) from 1998 : smart and funny, kinda focused on psychology and introspection.

My personal old-school favourite would be the 1987 classic Kimagure Orange Road.

My favorite is Toradora. It's an oldy, but I really loved Taiga and the ending was actually conclusive. The one thing that I absolutely hate about most romance anime that aren't Shoujo or Jose is that they don't have a conclusive ending where the protagonist chooses one girl (the downfall of most harem based anime).

There are quite a few others that I've enjoyed, but Toradora was and is my favorite to date.

When it comes to romance, hmmm... I'd go for Oregairu (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.). I haven't read the manga yet to confirm if there's more content there, but even though it's quite a cliffhanger, it still takes number one spot for me.

When going for harem i guess To LOVE-Ru is best <3.

And I won't forget to add Golden Time, even though the the opening in the first episode suggested what I want would never happen, still made me cry more than 5 times.

Clannad, Toradora, Spice and Wolf, Say I Love you, Plastic Memories, White Album 2 and Golden Time.

I felt these were especially great in developing characters, story, avoided cliches and were emotionally impactful. They were very lovely in my opinion.
