sjgjnr Posted January 12, 2011 Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 I rekon when the third hokage realized about Orochimaru, he felt so bad that one of his students had turned out the way he did, that he retired because he felt that if he had failed his student, which ultimatly caused him (the third hokage) to doubt himself and question if he was really the man for the job?(of being hokage)!but then when the fourth sacrifised himself to save the leaf there was only the third that had any real experience of being hokage, so which resulted in him being reappointed as hokage. hokage, hokage! Only saratobi knew the true secret of the 4th hokage... which was his legacy that he created which is naruto... But when Minato passed away sealing the fox, no one else was strong enough yet or in the village (Pervy Sage maybe?) to take that role, so he had to re-assume it until someone was strong enough to. However, as Raikagesama points out, Sarutobi was the acting-Hokage at the time of Minato's (unexpected) death. Even though Minto had taken over, Sarutobi was still the Third Hokage and was the active Hokage in all but name so they just had him keep the position as Orochimaru defected and Jiraya went looking after him. xxxxxxxx Posted March 2, 2011 Report Share Posted March 2, 2011 Well here is what I know, at the time when the 4th was appointed, the 3rd retired, and when the 4th died, the 3rd was forced to come out of retirement because there was no other people in konoha qualified enough to become a Hokage, with Orochimaru defected, Jiraiya and his adventures, and Tsunade, well probably she was gambling somewhere... After the 1st died, his brother was appointed the 2nd. And when the 2nd was about to sacrifice himself for his comrades, he chose Sarutobi as the 3rd Hokage. AxelVIII Posted February 17, 2012 Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 It s because the 3rd Hokage was the strongest in the village, then Minato took over the position as the strongest ninja in the village, but when he died, Sarutobi was now the strongest again, that is why he became Hokage for a second term.
