MastaBebo90
is there a noticeable difference between the two with anime Edited February 6, 2015 by MastaBebo90
Moodkiller
It depends on many things, but I'm going to say no, it's not really worth it*. Situation dependant though, if you are going to be watching it a 60"+ screen, then maybe (depending on source and who encoded it) you would notice a difference watching 1080p. Otherwise for the average 23-37" monitor, 720p is more than enough. *Individual results may vary. Opinion subject to change without prior warning.

Moodkiller
Not a problem . Not to mention that you will save double the storage space.

JohnFlower
>a noticeable difference Probably not. Most anime is drawn at 720p these days. 1080p is always better to download from decent encoders such as Coalgirls. However, the dual audio community prefers 720p. They are all about compression; saving disk space regardless of how bad they make their releases. Edit: Prime example right there. Thread = joke. Mr. Kimiko
Well if you train your eyes to tell the difference you can usually tell the difference between a 720 and 1080 even if something is even lower quality than that. I trained my eyes to tell the difference so I would prefer 1080 over anything only if it is a good upscale but other than that if its a true re-master like Yu Yu Hakusho blu-rays, I prefer them. Xanders
I'm with Kimiko, I too trained my self to differentiate the difference between 720p and 1080p because I was curious. Now I can't un-see the difference. All the way if you prefer to save space go 720p if your comfortable with it.

ZeroPenguins
Well cman dude from another forum posted this a long time ago, so I thought I might just repost the image: Thus it's only noticeable if you view the media close to your TV. JohnFlower
Yes, but you cant see detail that isn't actually there. When shows are drawn at 720p and then upscaled to 1080p, you're not gaining detail. Anyway, this thread is about 'training your eyes'. Don't expect any real factual argument to be had here.
