Why does anime have a bad wrap in the public eye?

It's such a vague question that I don't even know how to start replying. Perhaps, you could cite some examples.

Because it's different. The general public are very primitive in nature and tend to attack what they do not understand or label it in some way i.e. it's for kids, it's for pervs, etc. The latter tends to happen when they watch something that doesn't appeal to them and then they automatically assume that all anime is the same.

 

p.s. the sexual connotations/expressions in a lot of shows don't help, especially when they don't really need to be there and don't add anything to the story.

cnn is trying to make people continue to look at anime like it's wrong by acting like the ero loli hentai/manga is 95% of anime/manga, it's not and that stuff is only available to adults. cnn can go f themselves for the rest of time.
