Huh, wasn't expecting that... reminded me to do a virus check anyway, so thanks I guess.

 

For those that don't know, Microsoft's pre-E3 conference starts at 9:30am PDT/5:30pm BST. I plan to live-stream it and post a live commentary. I'll then update the first post after the fact. Hopefully, I'll be able to get YouTube videos of the coverage as soon as, although, I know from the past that Microsoft is pretty slow at getting stuff up on YouTube.

Versus XIII?

 

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE.

 

I was hoping for some KH3, TWEWY2 and Persona 5 but it looks like I was right about that being a pipe dream.

 

Should be interesting either way I guess.

I hope it's true myself. But alas it is just a rumour at this stage. It was announced five or six years ago and nothing has really been seen of it since, other than that pre-rendered trailer. There is a suggestion that it has now been re-purposed as FF XV but we'll see.

 

No Kingdom Hearts 3 confirmation I'm afraid but there is the possibility of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix making an appearance.

 

I don't know anything regarding The World Ends With You 2. It has never even been confirmed by Nintendo to be in production. We only have the creators saying they would like the be "given the opportunity to work on" a sequel.

 

Atlus, being a small studio, haven't really confirmed anything. SMT IV is expected to be there but that's it for them. They may well be showing other stuff too though.

 

 

If that's the case...

 

To say I'll be upset and/or angry would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.

FFXIII Versus? I think I remember seeing a trailer released alongside the original FF13 trailer. Nice~. and speaking of that. I had also heard the rumor that they were releasing a Final Fantasy '?', and that it was going to be a 'continuation of the Final Fantasy XIII story line. At first I thought the person was talking about FF13 - Lightning returns, but they were all like "no no no, I mean Final Fantasy '?' ". (I write a '?' because I'm not sure if they said 14 or 15)
Could it be that they were talking about FF13 - Versus, being bumped to a FF '?'* ? (14/15 or whichever digit they're using)

Also, your reason towards buying FF13 LR is the exact same as mine! More so than the gameplay, yes it might be fun, I'm more interested in just show-casing it and owning the whole series.

Sorry... it's just one of those games that's been announced years ago and never really been seen. The same can be said for the like of The Last Guardian and Beyond Good & Evil 2. The games have never been officially cancelled but it's been so long since we've seen anything from them it's easier to assume they won't be there rather than setting yourself up for disappointment. That DOESN'T mean they won't be there. This is all just an educated guess on my part.

I don't know about them continuing the XIII story... That's the most confusing part about Versus XIII, it has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the series. The characters - or at least those shown in the trailer - aren't in the other games and it's set in the modern world. It's almost as though they wanted to announce it and just called it Versus XIII because they were announcing XIII at the same time.

 

For clarity, the next Final Fantasy game will be XV (fifteen) as XIV (fourteen) was the poorly received MMO, sequel to XI (eleven).

 

Continuing on from my previous post. I expect Microsoft's conference to feature more information on both Titanfall, likely to be one of the eight new franchises released as part of Microsoft's "15 first-party titles in 12 months of release" strategy. I know that sounds weird considering they're not developing it, but it's still (technically) first party as long as they publish it. We can also expect stuff on they're confirmed games. To save you having to go back to the first post those are Forza Motorsport 5, Quantum Break and Ryze. Perhaps also Halo 5 (more likely Windows 8 Game Halo: Spartan Assault - remember, this isn't just about the Xbox One), the rumoured Insomniac exclusive and something from one of their newly set-up internal studios. Don't expect too much from them tomorrow. I expect them to focus on five or six games max, with others relegated to brief glimpses until E3 proper.

A look at 360 with Yusuf Mehdi. A redesigned 360 with a Xbox One style design. July 1st receive two new game downloads a month.

 

World Of Tanks coming exclusively to Xbox 360. First time the MMO has been on a console. Supposedly newly built for the 360. WoT CEO comes out to talk some shit.

 

Max: The Curse Of Brotherhood trailer. One of a few games announced for 360. I'm guessing Arcade, which is ironic considering the Xbox One all but gets rid of these sorts of games.

 

The second game is Dark Souls II. Looks good so far. But this is all this generation remember.

 

Phil Spencer's turn to be puppeted out to show off Xbox One games.

 

New franchise announcement. Ryse, as expected.

 

I'll be putting all these videos up tomorrow. I've got a hospital appointment in the morning so it'll probably be in the afternoon. I won't be covering any of the other conferences today (EA, Ubisoft, Sony) as I have stuff to do for work but I'll be updating everything tomorrow, including details from Nintendo's Direct footage. Besides Sony's would be 2am over here and it won't be worth it really. 

 

As you can probably tell, I'm not particularly entertained by this Ryse footage.

New fighting game for Xbox One, Killer Instinct.

 

Insomniac new IP, exclusive to Xbox One. Ted Price introduces Sunset Overdrive. Openworld shooter that "can change every day". Looks more interesting I guess. Not really into shooters myself though.

 

Maclaren. I'm guessing something to do with Forza Motorsport 5. Yep, that was surprising... Dan Greenawalt from Turn 10 to talk about Forza. Blah, blah... more blah. Liked Forza 3. Haven't played one since.

 

Interesting thing, this Drive-atar though. Hopefully it will mean we won't just have a procession to the finish line like normal.

EA/DICE, Battlefield 4. Technical difficulties with the trailer. Still a shooter. I can't get excited about this... Sorry, Battlefield fans. Expect more of this, FIFA, Madden, NHL, UFC and more in EA's preshow conference.

New trailer from one of Microsoft's newly set up studios. Looks a bit Journey-esque. big deserts, long cloak, being alone... big alien/robot thing. Not so Journey-esque now.  And...it's Halo. Told you.

 

Bonnie Ross to talk about the game. Blah, blah, blah, another sci-fi shooter, blah, windows 8, blah, Halo TV series (not all about games, eh), blah, Halo on Xbox One, blah, blah, cloud computing, 60fps, implied 2014 release date.

 

November release date for Xbox One. $499, €499, £429. More expensive than I was expecting. Won't be buying one at launch that's for sure. £50/£60 too much for me.

 

Titanfall closes the show out. From Respawn entertainment. Another shooter, this one with mechs. Blah.

 

Zampella comes out to blah, blah about Titanfall.

 

Phil's back. This is the wrap up. What do you guys think then? I'm only really bothered about The Witcher 3 personally, and that will be coming on PC. To be completely honest, I'm not so interested in this coming generation. The problems people have with the Xbox One don't bother me. It needs an internet connection; I have one. It's not backwards compatible; I have a 360. Publishers may charge for second hand games; I always buy new. 

 

I think what's more interesting is all the people flocking to PS4 without realising that Sony had a very good opportunity to score some points by coming out and saying their console wouldn't do such things. Notice how they didn't? Point being, they are probably using a similar system but haven't announced it yet.

 

The question for you all is: give up your consumer rights more (you already have for Steam/iTunes etc) and play next gen games, or keep them and play this generation.

My short and sweet analysis from the press conferences today:

 

Microsoft: You failed Microsoft.  You had your chance to win back gamers but you were unsuccessful.

EA: Missed it.  I'm sure I didn't miss much.  Not very fond of EA as a company anyway. >.>

Ubisoft: #girlwood came back eeeeh. :/  Yeah pretty mediocre press conference. I would say Rayman was the highlight, but I'm still bitter about the Wii U delay.

Sony: You did it guys.  You proved why one should not get an Xbone.  Indie support, Used games, No crazy always online DRM, etc... I haven't even played KH but I was HYPED for it. Definitely one of the best performances by Sony in a long time.

 

I'll miss the Nintendo Direct, but I'll probably watch it once I get off of work.  Nintendo is either going to win 1st or 2nd best press conference at this point.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with you lolrawr. Sony demolished Xbox as expected. The chanting of "Sony, Sony, Sony" was insane. The things that struck me most was that it's closer to the price I was expecting. Here's my summary:

Sony: Kicked the shit out of Microsoft with repeated, blatant shots aimed at them. It's still a big black box though. It's much cheaper at $399 and £349. I'll put a pre-order on soon. Take a look at this hilarious example.

Star Wars: battlefront, heck that just made day if not my year. I feel like my inner child has just returned just to see SW:BF reborn!!! Once I saw that EA gave starwars rights to 3 other companies such as DICE I knew DICE would be crazy not to do a battlefront game.

 

Loving most of the games shown so far such as Halo 5 (I feel this is coming out a little too soon as I think halo 4 seemed rushed and  don't want the same feeling with halo 5.) I am also looking forward to Destiny!

Is Xbox 1 really all that bad? Sure I see people talking it down as the worst console to hit the shelves and where there is truth to that, you get all these PS fan really rubbing the console into the ground not giving it a chance to really become a good console. Part of me is a little sick of PS fans seeing that the PS4 not having some of the 'defects' that microsoft has given the Xbox-1 and calling the xbox-1 pretty much a horride console.

 

I am more a xbox fan than a PS fan, but I still own both consoles and enjoy them both. I just find it a little annoying that I don't even know what the xbox one is going to be like as people make facts into horride rumours.

What we, as consumers, have to remember is that if we buy the Xbox One and it's a success, more people (companies) are likely to jump on these sorts of bandwagons.

As sad as it is, I expect this console to bomb. A lot of pre-orders have been placed but that is probably buy people who don't really follow the news. I expect the first 12-18 month of this console launch to be difficult for Microsoft and wouldn't be surprised to see a price cut during that period. 

 

In the interest of full disclosure, I have all consoles from this and last generation (PS2, Xbox, GC, Wii, PS3, 360). More of a PC gamer these days though.

I guess I got a little carried away with some of the things said as I have been reading nothing but bad things about one of my favourite consoles, it gets a little hard to take, not that I really snapped and went on full out war haha. It is a tough time for the new generation and I would agree with you 100% it is like an election.

I agree with every point you just made, being an fan of most consoles mainly xbox I was shocked myself to see that one of the biggest consoles ever to exist has taken some drastic measures against pre-owned games. At this early stage I am still not sure if I will by the new xbox or not. The sad truth is even if people do not buy the new xbox you will still get you die hard xbox fans buying the console thus boosting its sales. Even in saying that I still think the xbox's sales will have lowered from what they could have been and a lot of people turning to the PS4 for all their gaming needs.

 

Anyway with that said, there is still a fair distance in between console releases, anything could happen between now and then and rather then worry myself about the consoles I think I will just enjoy the games brought out at E3 and dream of the day I can be playing some of them on a console not yet decided

 

Come on Super Smash Bros I need a new game for my Wii-U. And I wonder if they will announce a new Dragonball Z game this year. I look forward to reading this thread tomorrow.

All I can say is lol, the world we live in is indeed an action packed one. Nice editing indeed! What will the rest of E3 hold? Only time will tell, lets just hope Attack on Titans theme doesn't become the E3 theme of everything lol.

Well, so far there are only about 3 games that actually interest me, those being Elder Scrolls, Witcher, and Star Wars Battlefront. All I can hope is that they are all released on PC and that my computer can handle them.

 

As for console wars, I would say that XBOX lost when they priced their system higher than the PS4. They already had bad press and will be charging a lot extra for a system with less specs and more bad gimmicks.

 

@EO   I knew it would happen, honestly I'm sick of all the Attack on Titan remixes and I haven't even seen the show yet.
