Pokemon X/Y

In case you folks don't already know, another region has opened up in the pokemon world with the new game series releasing in 3DS: Pokemon X and Y.

Being on a 3DS, its also the first pokemon rpg game in a handheld that finally got a 3D look.

Stuff like roaming around in a 3D world and animated battling, its pretty much similar to the older console games of pokemon like Revolution, colloseum etc.

Obviously lots of new pokemon arrive including new starters and more evolutions of pokemon from earlier generations but the latter part has a bit of a doozy this time around.

MEWTWO HAS RETURNED!!!

But here's the crazy part, he's come back with what looks like a new evolution form. o___o

I honestly don't know what to think of this, I mean its awesome that one of the oldest parts of my childhood got revived but giving him this...new look? I'm more or less 50/50 on the appearance but at first glance I was under the impression that frieza got mutated with super buu or something. =p (inb4 "this isn't even my final form" jokes appear)

Anyway so, post your thoughts nao

I doubt that it is an evolution of Mewtwo, considering that Mewtwo is a unique pokemon. I would guess that it is either Mewthree, or some other bastardization of Mew's DNA.

Hate the new legendaries, they are still going on the trend that more stuff everywhere makes them look cooler...

Starters arent bad at all, although Fennekin (fire starter) is essentially Vulpix.

All in all, seems like a good game, especially with the 3D making it like Pokemon Colliseum. I dont plan on buying a 3DS just to play it though.

If ye'd look closer at the official page I linked, there's a sneak peek video of mewtwo transforming into this new "thing". Oh and there's also a new B/W movie coming out in japan which shows mewtwo returning and fighting off genesect.

I am definitely looking forward to these games. I wanted to avoid all spoilers and start fresh when the game came out but that's not going to be possible since my friends are always discussing the new updates. That mewtwo "evolution" is actually a new mewtwo form. The way the website presented it it seems like there is going to be another form apart from that one as well. What really drew me in were the fact that the graphics look so much better and you get a Colosseum-type feel to it. I'd discuss other things about it but i'd rather not spoil anything if there are people reading that genuinely want to start fresh with this game.

Recently I have started watching the Pokèmon, from the start, and I'm really enjoying it. I'll be watching it until the very recent of where the Anime is at (dubbed wise of course), and just bear the new voices and all that crap. Hopefully in the near future I can buy myself a 3DS, so I can get the new Pokèmon games... I'll just start fresh at the current games instead of buying old ones and working myself up the line.

I simply like how they are saying they will change the formula a bit and both versions of the game may actually have a few more differences. I cannot play any new pokemon games cause it has all been the same thing. Gets boring after 15 years of playing it. So lets see how good these new games are.

UPDATE:  This new evolution form is called MEGA EVOLUTION.

Basically they pulled a digimon in pokemon. Not just by the name, but by the concept.

Unlocking their "hidden potential" and reaching a new level beyond their perma stages. Oh and this isn't a perma change btw, this evolution works in the middle of a battle and then afterwards that pokemon reverts back to their original form. In order for it to be capable of digivolving mega evolving, the pokemon requires a specific "mega stone" that is unique to that pokemon alone and hold it while in battle, alongside another condition which has yet to be declared.

Judging by the random pokemon picks, I'm guessing this may work with almost every pokemon out there. But the idea behind finding every single stone is definitely tricky, since there's a strong chance that most of them will be event items and blaziken's mega stone has been declared as one. (and rather limited at that)

Anyway, there are also other new things introduced in case nobody already knows:

The brand new fairy type

http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/whats_new/fairy_type/

Aaaand the reason for having this type? Its both super effective against dragon types as well as immune to their attacks.

Also it involves many of the older gen pokemon being incorporated into this type. From the obvious ones like chansey and clefairy to the now dual types like gardevoir and mawile. Speaking of dual types,  its been revealed that there will be dual type attacks now as well. How they will work? That....has yet to be given more details on.

Moving on, say hello to:

Super training systemz

It is still unclear what exactly will come out of this new form of training like whether it will help in raising actual stats or is it EV related, but for now you can just think of em as some mini games in case you ever get bored. =p

Next is something rather attractive:

Petting Pokemon

For all peeps who adore virtual pets, have at it. You can rub their heads, shake hands, give candy and shower em with your wuv. (wow that sounded odd)

To some it may appear weird and especially when large pokemon are concerned, usually its the smaller ones where it makes sense to keep petting every now and then but those like snorlax, tyranitar or a machamp are rather....well....weird. (repetition ftw)

And lastly, POKEMON MOUNTS!!!

BROp8YMCAAI-Cbu.jpg

Yes, you can ride your pokemon.

Not yet confirmed whether this means you can fly around the region as well, but if you look closely at the screenie above then you'd notice that pokemon is actually JUMPING OVER THE LEDGE. (aka the hassle of finding your way around to get past em is no longer a mandate)

Inb4 u think only pokemon features are getting the upgrade:

Trainer customization

pss_lower_screen.jpg

Whether you choose a boy or a girl, you now have the option to customize their hairstyle, their skin color, their hair color and perhaps accessories like hats etc.

boy_running_through_lumiose.jpg

Goodbye classic bicycle, hello rollerblades! Ok maybe not completely clear if this really does replace it but these have shown to provide more speed, flexibility and stuff like sliding on walls.

So with all of this in mind, this game is probably one of the biggest updates ever in handheld pokemon.

New pokemon type, new evolution engine, new training system, new region with actual 3D environment/gameplay, new customization features, new pokemon features outside battle and ofc new pokemon.

Looking forward to it. Kind of unsure about "mega-evolutions" though. Need more information on them.

Rest of it's fine. I'm trying to avoid learning about new moves and forms as much as possible so that some things are still a surprise. Having said that, I know I'll look it up when playing the games so meh. Got two of my friends to buy a 3DS so we can relive our childhood battling each other. Fun times.

October will take ages to come round now.

Eagerly awaiting this game even though I haven't finish any game since Crystal.

I honestly don't know if I've EVER finished a Pokemon game. :/ I'm always just starting new ones, haha.

But I know I haven't bought a Pokemon game since Sapphire. I wasn't really thrilled about X and Y when I first heard about it, but after seeing a bunch of screenshots all over Tumblr, I became interested. Plus, I figured I was long overdue for buying a new Pokemon game. So I bought X yesterday.

I like it so far, the navigation and 3D environment takes a little getting used to after playing classic Pokemon for so long, but it's nice. There are a lot of cool new features, like Bardon pointed out. One of my favorite things ever is character customization, so I about died when I learned you could get haircuts and change your clothes and stuff.

It's also nice to see previous generation (especially Gen1!) Pokemon floating around, instead of just having these weird Pokemon you know nothing about.

Another weird thing... There's an in-game chat, which I tried out for the first time yesterday. I assumed it was just going to be like a messaging system, but no. It's actually a voice chat. That freaked me out a little, haha.

So far, I think it's a lot of fun. :3

Well shit, I'm looking for more people to play with! I've already beaten the Elite Four, and am currently breeding Pokemon. If any of you folks want a level one Fennekin, I'll be more than happy to give you one (Or an egg... Probably an Egg).
