lemmingllama
Have you changed your resolution recently? It could just be that they were shuffled offscreen. Another thing if you have windows is that you could have disabled your desktop icons from showing, just check the "show desktop icons" option and you are golden. Jªvª
Have you been utilizing a virtual desktop software or a dual monitor setup recently?
Dae314
My vote is to check if they're off screen first by doing an arange icons in alphabetical order or something like that. Check for more complicated junk after that.
JohnFlower
I hope you have restarted your computer... That is the default fallback solution for any technical problem, especially one relating to software such as this.
ZeroPenguins
Just make new shortcuts.... I personally just don't bother with shortcuts, it clutters the desktop. Mines is all nice and clean.
Xanders
Yes I tried restarting the computer,Yes i'm using rainmeter,Yes i did checked the ' Show desktop icon ' many times only 2 recently installed apps appear (specificly BlueStacks),Yes i do have a fake extended display setup on vga only so that old games would work (ex. Red Alert 2),Yes i did rearrange them in many ways didn't work,No i did not change my resolution lately, The shortcuts gets annoying and loses its icon very quick and shows a blank default quite a pain when multitasking, reinstalled rainmeter didn't work remove object dock didn't work either.... JohnFlower
Remove Rainmeter. It will solve all your icon problems with the added bonus of not wasting several hours of your time per day.

shadowtheman
they could be hidden. Go to folder options and try this.1.Makesure that hidden isn't filled in.2.Change the icon. Sometimes the icons glitch out, change the icon for the folder and back again. Also try this.Go to controle panal and click on apperences and personlization. Then click on options, and scroll down and make sure these are checked.1. Show hidden files, folders, and drives2.display file icons and thumbnails3. and uncheck hide file extesions. These all effect how the folders and items show up on your system and might help.If this doesn't work than its probably that the icon dll in win32 is messed up. You will probably have to run your os disk in repair mode to fix the messed up files.
