One day me and my girlfriend were walking down a street, and I looked down, and saw a small blue square, and thinking nothing of it, walked away, then realizing I noticed something shine. Sometimes money, sometimes weird creepy stuff, especially when I'm out walking with my roommate. He likes to pick up stuff from the ground and it's usually strange things. If I find money, unless I saw someone specifically drop it, I'll probably just pocket it, haha. It has to be an outrageous amount of money for me to go to the police about it (and by outrageous I mean in excess of $100). If I try to find out who owns a twenty I found, I'm probably never going to find them because everyone's gonna say, "Oh yeah, that's mine." If it's actual stuff, I'll probably make some effort depending on what it is. I'll definitely turn in keys, IDs, badges, and wallets to a nearby lost and found, and likely anything else of moderate value. I don't really think it's stealing or dishonest to keep things you found on the ground, but obviously it'd be pretty suspicious if you were at someone's house and you tried to pull that, haha. Not to mention we're up on the third floor, so it's probably a snake with magical powers and should be spared. Spiders and stuff don't bother me, I either ignore them or just scoop them up with a piece of paper and set them outside if they're being a bother. Or murderous. Usually they're not, haha. On the one and only visit I ever made to my mother's place in Hawaii, there was a little lizard that ran around the place. When Java and I go to Petsmart to pick up stuff for our cats, we'll stop by all the animals and check them out. The reptiles they got always look like they want to fight me. Maybe I'm just overly aggressive to tiny creatures, but I'm pretty sure they had it out for me. Anyway, I see random stuff on the ground while I'm walking and today I saw an empty box of Magnum condoms, as well as the same bag of dog poop that's been abandoned in a ditch. The dog poop is baffling to me, because why would you take the effort to put it in the bag, but then just put it back on the ground??? If it has some kind of ID on it, like a name and address engraved, I return it, otherwise, unless I see someone drop it, it's mine. Money is common. Usually just random change, but sometimes bills. Most ever found in a single day, $250 (lots of ones, some fives, 4 20s, and 2 fifties.) If I added up every bit of money I've found on the ground in my adult life, it would be more than enough to have paid for my truck (Which was only $750... but that's still, that's a lot to see on the ground!) I've found MP3 players, knives, a flash drive full of crappy porn, a 12 pack of coke, an unopened 12 pack of AA batteries, and assorted other crap. My favorite find was a big bag full of hundreds of D&D dice. 8 fulls sets (1d4, 2d6, 1d8,2d10,1d12,1d20) Plus a set of World of Darkness dice (10d10s) and I'm pretty sure this was a wizard's bag... because the rest was all D6s. (Either that or they played in a d6 system as well.) I went to that spot every day for a week to try to find the owner. But no random D&D group showed up.... A quarter is the minimum value coin I will pick up (gumball machines!) but even then I'm a little wary because I know people like to glue coins to the ground and I don't have time for that.
