† Apollo
Okay, so in Final Fantasy VIII, there are no real character classes. Sure, some characters are pretty obviously based on classes, but nothing's ever stated specifically. Everyone summons, uses magic, attacks, etc. Instead of classes, each character uses a different type of weapon. Now, I like this a lot. Students of Garden can use whatever weapon they want, and they train to become proficient in their choice of weapon, and it's not at all based on classes. Because of this, we have pretty different types of weapons (whips, fists, Rinoa's crappy pinwheel thing, etc.) in the game. I included Rinoa even though she's not a Garden student because A.) pinwheel is a good example of random weaponry, and B.) I love picking on Rinoa. So basically, if you were a student at Garden, what would be your weapon of choice?I'd probably use a staff. I've always been partial to staves and rods and stuff, especially the magical kind. However, as a student of Garden, I'd want to use a fighting staff (like Kilik from Soul Calibur) instead of the pretty, ornate, just-stand-there-and-hold-it-up kind of staff that I love, just because in that type of scenario, I'd want to have decent physical attacks. Plus, everyone uses magic anyway in that game, so it's nothing special, really. It would be really cool to use Tarot cards, too, but I don't think it would fit in with a life at Garden. Koby
Gunblade.I love it. A Gun and a Blade in one weapon.Though they say it's one of the toughest to use.. (and only 2 people at Balamb could... Siefer and Squall).
† Apollo
Yeah, the gunblade is one of the coolest weapons ever. It's too bad that the gun aspect of the gunblade is actually just to vibrate the blade as you strike with it. It doesn't actually shoot bullets or anything.Oh well, automatic critical hits are nice! I think they actually transform into one or the other though.. Not exactly sure since the game isn't out yet (only a demo in Japan).Yeah, always got Criticals with Squall in FF8.. haha. † Apollo
Yeah, from the trailers I've seen, Lightning's weapon just transforms rather than being both at the same time. And I'm not so sure if it'll actually be called a gunblade or anything, as usally it is described as "a gunblade-like weapon."Anyway, it's pretty much nothing like the gunblades in FFVIII. † Apollo
Weeeee, an older topic of mine...Oh, I also like guns! Not rifles like Irvine, but like pretty pistol/handguns. OH, or maybe those really hot magic guns from FFX-2's gun mage dressphere.Hmm, so many choices. Weapons are awesome...Gunblades are the coolest, but boy do they look weird. Hmm...Damn I'm bored. hotspot
Now, i am not a fan of ff8. But becuase this is basically a weapon topic, with some researching i saw all the characters weapons. Now first off i love boomerangs, so when i found out that a character uses a boomerang. That became my automatic pick.so i choose the blaster edges. I also like the pole, chakram, whip and nunchucks. The blaster would be my long range weapon and the pole would be my medium range weapon.
