Okay, so I had an argument with a duelist about this card. He activated it on HIS Battle Phase, and I was like, "Uh, you can't do that. That is a trap card." He then said, "You can activate this card whenever. Read it." We then had a fight and he called me a cheater and left the duel.

I was getting irritated because I know for a fact that trap cards, no matter what they are, cannot just be activated. That would make it a spell card. So, here's my question. How exactly does Call of the Haunted work, and was I correct.

All trap cards can be activated on either players turn unless otherwise stated on the card. The only problem is it cannot be activated on the turn it was set. So if he had set the Call of the Haunted on a previous turn, then yes he could activate it.
