gunit2004
Blu Ray releases are just cut down from the original aren't they. They are cutting away a bunch of the screen and putting it into 1080p format.
Koby
Blu Ray releases are just cut down from the original aren't they. They are cutting away a bunch of the screen and putting it into 1080p format.Cut-down? Um.. no.. DVD's are by default usually 420p. Blu-rays are 1080p. That means if the video wasn't animated at a large enough resolution they must upscale it for Blu-ray not cut it down.If you were trying to say crop, well -- FUNimation hasn't stated whether they would make it 16:9 or keep the original 4:3. Considering they kept Kai 4:3 just like Japan did then it's a huge chance they will keep the Blu-ray of Z 4:3 as well which would mean no cropping. Now it's just a matter if FUNi is any good at remastering as past attempts have shown they weren't. At least they don't have to upscale it as Japan has given them the 16mm film reels at 1080p. Essentially if they do it right it could look a lot like the Kai Blu-rays but have all the Z episodes and the Z music and voices.
mrheihachi
I know the FMA Brotherhood BDs didn't seem 1080, and if something that new didn't have good enough masters I have no idea how this dragonball is gonna turn out.I hate it when stuff is released on BD that makes no use of the superior format :/
Falco99
I don't see why you would go through the trouble making a Blu-ray version of DBZ, It's not like the show isn't kick-ass to begin with.

They will continue to milk the series and make as many various releases as they can as long as people still buy it. Heck if it wasn't for Dragon Ball Z then FUNimation may not have even existed anymore.
skate.101
Maybe some day they will endup (I don't know what word to use) animate the whole series i.e. redraw the whole series ... instead of raping the originals and making something only a tad better than the original .. idl12
Sooo, yet another release of DBZ..How many are there again? I lost count now, seriously, are fans really hard core enough to buy yet another version of what they already have? I know I would but still. The_Last_Quincy
Seems like they release DBZ every year in some new box set or format. This years its DBZ on blu ray, next year it will be DBZ in 3d and so on. I would rather see Funimation bring out Dragonball over DBZ but just me i guess
