Koby
Never heard of .xm files but I use WinFF for my audio encoding. You can check it out and see if it'll work for what you want.

† L4ugh
MediaCoder could be another you may want to try. It's a pretty advanced converter though, so there will be a learning curve. You could try the iPod version it may be easier to use. What do you use to play the file on your computer?
kreepindeath69
im downloading it right nowwhen i think about i cant believe how stupid i was to download it at random; the media player was called "play it all media player"

† L4ugh
Does it throw out an error or just stop working? Either way it probably means that mediacoder doesn't support .xm unless mediacoder is freezing on any format you try to convert. Like Koby I've never heard of .xm so if mediacoder can't do it, then I don't know what to tell you. The only other thing I can offer is to see if you can play the file in vlc. If vlc can play then it can also convert it into a different format for you. Not sure how good the quality would be.
Xanodus
Buy a video converter, and that should solve your problem. You can also adjust the sound on your computer if necessary
