RikuoAmero
Okay, another question for you Kametsu gods. I've got two Iomega 2TB external hard drives, they're the same model. When I plug them both in, however, only one of them shows up in My Computer. I can see both drives in the Device Manager, but for some reason, Windows will only allow me to use one at a time. Anyone have a clue as to how to tell Windows to let me use both?
Koby
That is really strange. I got two WD external HHD's (one is 1TB, the other 2TB) and I can plug both of them in at the same time just fine. I honestly don't know why you can't or even begin to be able to help figure out the problem.
† L4ugh
That does seem odd that it isn't mounting the other drive as well. Are they pluged into a usb port in the front or in the back? The only guess I can come up with is that maybe windows explorer is only see them as one drive because the usb ports they are connected to are linked together. Like you would have if you plugged them both into the front usb ports. If they are plugged into the back though I've got nothing. Windows should pick them both up even if they are the same type of drive.
kaoru
You could try using an USB-hub to improve connectivity, since they are the same model, windows might be having some glitch in recognizing both simultaneously, its a long shot thou, i'm not sure it would actually help.. If they both work one at a time you can rule out firmware problems, so my best shot is that the problem is coming from the USB controllers, but if the HD's came with any drivers you had to install, try re-installing them also, can't hurt. And btw, is it the 2.0 or 3.0? When 2.0 came out windows 7 didin't exist yet, so if all else fails try switching to XP and see what happens. † Irish
did you go into your disc management and see if the other drive was there without a drive letter.... cause you may have to assign it a letter manually... Worth a shot.
