AksGOTTaAK
Censorship sucks---------- Post added at 11:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 AM ----------There is no reason to censor anything just put a higher rating on it so people know what to expect. Besides what is so bad about sexual or violent images in anime. like in ecchi its not like the even show anything that bad maybe a boob here and there and in shows like elfen lied the blood had a point to it all. if kids dont understand that if you cut some one that the bleed and can get hurt then they might actually start hurting each other not understanding its bad. thats how my dad raised me and my other 2 brother. darkdragon
I think that its unnecessary to censor stuff like blood and mature suggestive themes, (( in One Piece there was a guy smoking a cigarette, and they replaced it with a lollipop, like, wtf! )) Have you taken a look at western children's movies, like Disney and whatnot? There is tons of "mature" suggestive things in them, and we all turned out fine, for the most part, haha, its not like we are traumatized by a little blood and suggestive things, its out there in the read world, so your going to see it irregardless.---------- Post added at 04:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:03 PM ----------and another point, it should be the parents responsibility on what the kid is able to watch, not the people that make the shows, if it was meant to have sex and violence, so be it~! Gero50
When it is being aired over a TV network I can understand the censorship thats put in place. Epically since more often then not anime is brought to other countries to target kids of a younger age than the original Japanese viewers. Though I think they should release more DVDs of the original content for other countries outside Japan. This would benefit them, and the fans in more ways then one. Like activating captions or some such feature. Well, that wouldn't really work, but something like a censored version and a non-censored version to be included on the disk. That way, more people could enjoy the same kinds of anime while still able to view the uncensored goodness that anime can bring.

Though it is possible its the last thing from proboable. They would have to burn both distributions of the content, and run it through a compression process. Therefore the cost of anime already through the roof would hit the moon. Plus there is the matter of subbing it, or applying soft dubs. It would honestly be more cost effective to buy a regain free DVD player, and get the Japanese version imported.
bonfire123
censorship is always bad. Censorship is a company / government telling you whats good for you. Only you can decide that, thats what freedom is all about. I don't need a government / corporation to be my babysitter, i know whats good / bad for me and only i should get to decide that. assuming my decisions don't infringe on somebody elses rights which can't happen in the realm of censorship
aardbark
I can understand censoring things for saturday morning cartoons for children. But all DVD releaces of anime should be uncensored. Maybe a censored version, so parents can buy them for their kids, but there should always be a uncensored option.
magneshiam
i agree that censoring is completely bad for all anime. for example Dragonball Z has abt 10 episode that were cut out for they weren't made for the little kids with a age restriction of 16 but now i cannot find the uncut version of all the DB's. the cut episode explain a few things that had happened that gets never explained in the cut version like how vegeta ended up with bulma and so on. well in the uncut version they show how trunks gets made and so on, leave the imagination for you guys.but really if i buy a dvd or download the episodes i expect to recieve the true story of what i am buying and not what they think you need to know or if its bad for you. >-? Issei
Some censoring is just annoying as hell. For example, I clicked on a different mirror for the Anime, Rosario + Vampire and there were bats everywhere they were trying to flash panties. As long as it doesn't annoy me beyond belief, I don't mind censoring, I'd rather there weren't any but what can you do?
westnortel
agreed.... there should always be a director's cut edition in DVD editions...censorship is fine for TV but terrible for those who spent money to purchase a hard copy of the anime
toloveru99
Censoring shouldn't be anything at all. Any anime should be released how it was originally intended to. Anything less is disrespectful to the company who produced it.
av33
TV censorship I get, but when you're paying for the dvds and you know the rating then you should be entitled to non-censored content. Its just like watching R-Rated movie, they won't show it on tv but you can go to the theatres or buy the dvd
Mystro69
Censoring is all BULLSHIT!---------- Post added at 02:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:03 PM ----------Censored anime is really fucking stupid. Yeah i understand public TV being censored, But when you go out to purchase a pacific type of anime for your self which in the first place is not cheap you should be able to buy and get the original how its meant to be seen product. That's too much control when your only option of choice is censored or nothing. Those who work in the censoring department are stupid uptight anal retentive closed minded preaching were all going to hell obnoxious dumb asses and they can kiss my ass! thaisbeach
if we are talking about asian cinema we have now real hard rules on censorship graphics is what keeps entertainment as entertainment so censorship shouldn't even be mentioned when it comes to anime as part of the ever growing asian world of entertainment
FishamanP
Dragon Ball Z Kai was actually fine; they were aiming it at 13- year olds anyway. However, I hate it when they censor stuff meant for mature audiences.Bleach's censorship was actually fine. ty2050
When you think about it, it's just a way to control the people. But it all comes down to money when you have money you have power. Simple if it sells why not do it. If you don't like it don't watch it. I prefer uncut if I can't get my hands on it to bad for me.
Babybluex
Well, it's all related to all the anti-violence campaigns going on out there. They believe that violence on T.V makes kids violent, but they don't know that kids get much more violent at school, in the street, and just watching the news next to their parents. The world is a violent place, and governments are after docile, pacifist kids.Honestly, this kind of censoring makes me sick to the rim. The age discretion idea seems fine to me though.
