Catherine

I just received an email from Atlus' newsletter saying they officially announcing they are actually going to release a US version of the game Catherine. I personally will still wait for it to be released before buying to see what the general consensus is since as far as I know there hasn't been a horror/crazy-ass plot/puzzle platformer game made before.

Do you guys think this game is really worth full retail price though (i.e. $60+Tax)? =/ I'm not much of a puzzler gamer myself but I do like occasional puzzles.

I forget what Gamestop was offering with the preorders but I know there's a difference in cover art depending on which console you preordered for. (PS3 has Catherine and X360 has Katherine on the front cover, or something like that - I got it backwards probably?)

That is not backwards. Anyway, the pre-order bonus was an Artbook and Music CD.. The game seems worth the price, even if only for the story alone. The puzzles and difficult only add to its value, especially since many gamers complain the games are too easy in recent years.

Lol, most people complain games are too easy because they're so relatively short. In most cases, I hear people want more out of their games as they expect them to have somewhat large multiplayer setups like Call of Duty and be somewhat interactive.

Anyways, I guess I'll look into buying Catherine for the X360 or something later on in this month, I don't feel like just buying the game alone since it's an Atlus game and the artbook and music CD make it much more valuable for a price of $60+tax. Actually, I should try the demo - there's a demo of it on xbox live right?

yes, there is a demo on XBOX Live and PSN Store. Most people recommend using the digital pad, if you decide to try it, though they say the Digital Pad on the X360 isn't that great, unless you have the expensive controller with an improved Digital Pad. Also, this game is actually "hard", unlike most games in the current generation, especially in Hard Mode. The difficulty between Easy and Normal is also "worlds apart".

Oh cool. So that'll not be hard. I heard there was also a way to unlock ultra easy mode or something on the demo.

tried it, beat my first playthrough of the game. It's totally amazing.

I wasn't to thrilled about the puzzle aspect of the game, but throughout the game there are demos of puzzle solving methods. After a while you'll be climbing puzzles in no time. mission 7-3? is the hardest but you can youtube the levels which really help when you're stuck.

the story is what makes the game addicting. you want to solve the puzzles to know what's going to happen next. At least that was my view on it.

Sold over 200000 in the US alone within a week. Atlus is very happy. Maybe we will get Persona 5 now.
LMAO. Don't get your hopes too far up, they usually doesn't do enough for a company to take a quick move towards their next project. They'll probably use their funds to release a bunch of other small name titles to see how they work in the water.
