supposed to be 'streets' ahead of firefox and chrome. This is the final test drive for the new browser - a chance to catch any last-minute bugs before its debut.

IE9 has been downloaded 25 million times during beta testing.

Privacy and speed are being highlighted as two of the features that set IE9 apart. it was made directly due to IE falling from a 60% to a 54% market share.

It still sucks, and most of it's market is from people who don't know any better and just use the default.

Also, typo in your post, it should read "60%" instead of "6%."

i completely agree with both posts and thanks for pointing out the typo lol

however after further research, it seems as if IE9 is the real deal. i personally doubt it, but you never know!

Despite how well IE9 may or may not preform, it suffers from two major flaws in my opinion. The first, and probably the least important, is the high level of user customization that is possible on other browsers. IE is just a basic browser and will likely never have things like chrome's webstore or firefox's addons that can have thousands of plugins and addons to make your internet experience feel more superior.

The second problem is quite likely IE's biggest problem of all, and thats an Image Problem. Like with windows vista, you prolly know someone that has had an horrible experience with it at some point in the past and swore never to use it again (thus the IE troll face). The new IE might run great or even better than all the other browsers combined, it might even make you eggs and coffee in the morning, but until it gets over it's image problem, the vast majority of people are going to look at it and laugh as they open some other web browser.

Personally as a webdesigner, I hate IE. Half of the features of CSS doesn't display in IE correctly. IE fails to display various transparency in PNG images. And overall about 40% of the time invested in designing new websites is put towards making the shit work in IE. It'll work in every browser but be broken in IE and if you fix it for IE it usually requires outdated coded and unless you use IF statements that only are used in case of the user using IE, then it will break the design in all over browsers. It's a simple fact, web-designers despise IE and we are happy to see the percentage of people using it diminish.

How do you think FireFox got so popular so quickly? We website owners made it happen. We placed download links, download toolbars, advertisements, etc.. to FireFox, recommending it everywhere.

Now how did Chrome get popular? It's fucking GOOGLE. Everything they do becomes big because they own the internet pretty much. Did you know there is currently over 120,000 domains owned by Google that redirect to the official Google website? Did you know they supposedly bought Yahoo? Did you know they own YouTube? The list goes on and on.

Honestly, im a mozilla and chrome person.... I hate IE, But I decided to Give 9 its fair shake and it has impressed the hell out of me... I have benchmarked it and stressed tested it and it has done really well... Basically Micro$oft wanted to make a browser that brought more people back to their market, and without a doubt this will work, No as we all know Mozilla is still in beta(it sucks ass) and you know Chrome will come out with another version... But they went through and actually fixed ALOT of the errors and problems with IE... Hell im using it right now as im typing... I thought I would never open another IE window.... But when see something that gets so much hype, i have to give it a fair shake and try it... Cause you never know what you might stumble upon... For anyone out there that going to flame me, just try it first... I mean im not totally switching over to IE's side, but to me, they finally made a decent browser.... Im still a Chrome fan(only issue i have with chrome is i cant set a desktop background from the right click)... IE is a Little on the Heavy side using over 100K of ram(thats with 3 tabs open), but chrome is right around 90 to 100 as well(with 3 tabs)...

so my Final Verdict is is a simple Easy to use browser with simple functions and capabilities.....

*edit*

One thing I just found annoying about IE9 is there is no "copy image location" option when you right click....

  • 3 weeks later...

i tried ie 9 beta and rc..i personally like this browser a lot..but im not using it it to open many tabs...

ps: to me..firefox is sluggish and unstable as well as slow when it comes to opening more than 20 tabs, it also consume huge portion of ram...on the other side, opera is more stable even you open more than 50 tabs..(i usually open more than 80 tabs on multiple window..) the function stack i like the most where you can stack tabs togehter if you're not using it..
