vlukev
I just want to make sure this isn't just me , i started playing it and i mean its just a totally different experience. Don't get me wrong it's great fun and i'm progressing nicely , but its like random battle with a solid enemy , then another one of the exact same kinda of battle then a boss that owns completely. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't just me .I do love the challenge though makes you rethink your strategy constantly
Koby
Final Fantasy IV is my favorite of the entire franchise. I honestly did not find it hard, I just found it refreshing. You did often have to stick around and get into random fights a bit to gain some levels before proceeding. If you tell me about where you are I could try to give you a recommended level you should be?Several bosses require you to have an actual strategy to beat. Including the first boss, the Mist Dragon, where you had to time your jumps just right so Kain wouldn't get hit and then he'd jump down and hit the boss while it was still formed and have time to jump again before getting hit and stuff. I really miss games like this.
idl12
At first I did find it hard, but I realized that you should be able to comfortably make it through the first few hours simply by fighting every single random encounter you get, I didn't really have to grind until the part where Cecil had to fight that boss on the mountain where he finds his light or something like that. Of course I was always way under-leveled because I'd flee often to get where I needed to go quicker, but that ended up with me having to level grind when I got to my destination usually every time after that point. ragnawind
I never found the game too difficult, except for in the last area of the Final DUngeon leading to the final boss. The enemies there are much stronger than the other enemies and it makes the final battle all the more difficult unless you get to around the mid 50s to lower 60s. I got this far in the remake for the GBA. I haven't really played much of the SNES version or the DS version. I only played the SNES version and DS version through emulation. The DS version on an emulator isn't that good even on my fast computer. I have the GBA version and that is pretty easy. I even beat one of the bonus dungeons already, and it wasn't that hard (all of the bosses for all of the characters were beaten relatively easily). I haven't played the Playstation version, at all. A harder FF than this game, in my opinion, in Final Fantasy V.

idl12
I played the Snes version and the gba version since the gba version had a much better translation.
Kasoivc
I've played the GBA and DS versions and honestly I never had problems with difficulty, other than being under-leveled or ill-equipped at the time. Usually I was just under the ideal level requirements for my party cause like Koby, I usually flee from battles to get wherever faster & than grind it out (which in my experience is harder.) Nero D. Ace
The only Final Fantasies i've ever played are IV, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, not counting some spin-offs and sequels.among all those, i actually found IV the easiest. Unlike other games like Chrono Trigger, i honestly didn't have to spend that much time grinding levels to beat a boss. And tbh, i don't really run away from random encounters unless A) I have no HP or MP. I'm conserving all my stuff for a boss fight ahead. Also, i found Kain much more easier to use and cooler than Cecil so i really don't get why Cecil is so hyped about. narthon
Cecil was the one you were with throughout the story. He also doesn't come across as a dumb kid, which is kind of unique for a Final Fantasy main character, at least recently.
Shinryuuu
FF4 isn't that hard, just get some levels, before encountering bosses. Dragonquest, that's a hard game to play..
Cold_void344
It's not really that hard, you just need to analyse how the boss attacks It is one of my favourite Final Fantasy games (and one of my all time favourites) What I really liked about it was the character development of all the characters (Rydia is my favourite along with Cecil)
Juiz
I was enjoying FF4 quite a lot until I got to the tower with Barbariccia and then I just got stomped so I gave up. Kind of a shame but I never enjoyed the 2d ones as much because they always seemed a bit grindy...
sese
I originally played the game on pc emu but moved it to my psp when the emu was ported. I left the game for probably 6 years when i got stuck at bahamut. It was one of the best because of its difficulty though.
OCValkyrie
I first started with the PS version and had bucketloads of trouble with it. It was hard and I was getting killed left and right. Then I got the DS version and made it to the Sealed Cave, where the minor enemies kept killing me and leveling was taking far too long. Then I got the PSP version, and breezed through that like no tomorrow. It was so easy, it was a little disappointing. Though I did only get Bahamut because of Kain >.>
