This is what I got. It was cheaper when  got it from bestbuy. So you might find it somewhere cheaper or even go the HP website to customize it.

If you want to be ripped off, go ahead and buy a OEM PC.

Would I have really saved any money if I got the same hardware piece by piece and OS?

Oh my bad! No you would've lost so much money, you would had lost negative $300-500, so therefore in the end you made a profit.

-Some food for thought for you...

portability is unnecessary

from the videos ive been watching it seems an "i5" would be ideal

and 8-16ram

lastly 64bit over 32bit

so i think going the build yourself route is indeed best

just need assistance on parts to purchase :]

as its quite confusing and my biggest need is to have it not overheat almost at all

Be careful not to overspend on parts that you may not need (example: 8-16gb of ram is a little excessive.) Take a look at your games' recommended hardware requirements. That'll help some.

I am sure if I bought low end parts it would have been a negative $300-$500 dollars. But I am talking about equivalent parts.

OS $100

graphics card $100

16GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM #160- $180

1 terrabyte harddrive $100

Intel - Core™ i7-4770 3.4GHz Processor $320

wireless keyboard and mouse $40-$50

Multimedia card reader $20

600 watt power supply $60-$80

motherboard $180-$200

But anyways, OEMs prebuilt computers are only good if they are on sale, like really on sale plus 50% off or more.

It still doesn't compare to a proper PC built from scratch, assuming you get those parts on sale. Even if you brought those parts retailed price, you do have the peace of mind knowing you're gonna get better quality parts. Not to be hating, but if you want to talk about equalvalent parts comparing OEMs parts with custom PC parts is like comparing apples with oranges. Just facts man.
