Nero D. Ace
Well, the repercussions of erasing my PC have begun to take effect ...All the songs i had on my PC were erased, the same songs that i synced to my iPod via iTunes. However, they are no longer there which means that if i were to install iTunes now and sync my iPod, all the songs on it would be deleted as well.Is there any way to get around this problem? Koby
I'd actually like to know this as well. Haven't updated my iPod in years because the PC it's synced to I no longer use and thus connecting it to another PC and installing iTunes would result in losing the 2,000 or so songs and 100 or so videos that are currently on it. Vonnie
Well I guess you could get an iPod to PC transfer software but most of them you need to pay for it. But who knows, just google it and you might find a free one.
Chupathingy220
It depends on what type of iPod you have. If you have an ipod touch, you're pretty much out of luck :-/ however, if you have an ipod classic, video, or mini (the older generations) you can enable viewing "Hidden Files and Folders" in windows. If you navigate to the ipod_control folder (which is hidden), there is a folder named Music or something similar like Media or the like. If you copy that folder to your computer, and then add the folder to your itunes library, all of your music will be there, with all of its album artwork and titles intact. However, the actual file names will be funky, all shortened to four letter/number combinations like X40T or other nonsense.Hope this helps! Nero D. Ace
i think i managed to find a solution to our problem, guys. How to Transfer Music from iPod to Computer? If you want to transfer music from iPod to computer; you would required an iPod, its data cable, a computer with sufficient space to store the files, and Apple iTunes software.Enable Disk UseFor accessing the music files in your iPod, you necessarily need to enable the iPod's disk use. For doing so, connect your iPod to the computer using the data cable. Allow iTunes to open automatically; and if it does not, open it manually. After iTunes recognizes the iPod, click on 'Continue' in the interface. Click on 'Summary' in the iTunes interface, check the 'Manually manage music and videos' option, and click on 'OK' and 'Apply' located at the bottom of the interface. This will enable the iPod's disk use.View Hidden FoldersNow that you have your iPod connected with the disk use enabled, you can go to the next step. Click on 'My Computer', and locate the iPod's drive. To see the music files, you will have to first view hidden files. For viewing hidden files; select the 'Tools' option on the menu bar, select 'Folder Options', then 'View', click on the 'Show hidden files and folders' option, and then 'OK'.Locate the Music FilesDouble click on the iPod's drive, and now you will be able to see the 'iPod_Control' folder in which the music files are stored. In the 'iPod_Control' folder, locate the 'Music' folder, and double click on it. You will see several folders named such as F00, F01, F02, F03, and so on. View any one of its contents, and you can see the audio files. However, the names of the music files will not be displayed; but you can see the artist, file duration, album, etc.Copy-Paste Files in Your ComputerCopy-paste the files that you want in a folder on your hard drive. At this point of time, you would be thinking how the file names are to be renamed and identified. However, the best option is to open the saved folder in Apple iTunes. After doing so, you will have all your music files sorted out in the iTunes music library. In the library, you will be able to view the names of the files.i tried it out and it really works. iTunes sorts everything out.
4evervideo
It would be much easier if you have a Mac and using Time Machine back up system. What just happened to you happened to me once and I always back up.
