Nekone Posted April 11, 2018 Report Share Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) Now that we've had a Discord server for a while, I got to thinking that it's probably time to lay out some official, specific rules for it. This is largely due to a recent incident that was reported to me by Discord's Trust & Safety team, but also slightly because we don't have a solid ruleset for it. These rules will now be shown to you when you join the server via the invite link, as well! Without further ado, here they are: Do not ask to be assigned a role. We assign roles based on merit - which means breaking any of our rules can result in temporary or permanent removal of any role(s). Do not ask if you can mod the server. Koby and I only select specific staff members I can personally entrust with the upkeep of the server, and only if/when there is a need for more. Don't use this server as a means to insult others/troll others by flaming. Violators are subject to removal by ban. ALWAYS comply with the Discord Community Guidelines, which are located here: https://discord.com/guidelines Have respect for eachother's opinions. EVERYONE is entitled to their own, of course, but do not attempt to impose your own upon others. NSFW content goes into the NSFW channel. What's considered NSFW? Anything with any degree of nudity, sexual references, references to pornography, as well as excessive swearing, to name some things. You MUST be 18 years or older to enter the NSFW channel. UNDER ABSOLUTELY NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU TO POST ANY REMOTELY PORNOGRAPHIC OR SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE DEPICTION INVOLVING MINORS! THIS INCLUDES LOLICON AND SHOTACON! DO NOT POST IT!!! NOT EVEN IN NSFW!!! THIS WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL OF BOTH THE POST AND YOU + YOUR ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO DISCORD TRUST & SAFETY! WE DO NOT KID AROUND WITH THIS RULE. IT WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED TO THE LETTER! WE DO NOT TOLERATE RACISM HERE - everyone on this server is an equal and they can do without racist bigots. No spamming. This includes (but is not limited to) advertising of other servers other than those authorized by staff. No flooding. That means don't go pasting huge amounts of text. While Discord can handle such things much better than IRC can, the fact remains that nobody likes to have to read an entire wall of text in the middle of a conversation. Use an online paste tool. This is especially true in #general because it relays directly to our IRC channel. PLEASE don't flood it with huge globs of text at once! DO NOT POST TORRENT LINKS OR LINKS TO DOWNLOADS IN GENERAL. This is a DISCUSSION server only. Violators may have such messages removed and may also be subjected to a ban. There is to be no soliciting or promotion of illegal activities of any sort - this includes cracked DRM, asking for pirated software downloads, advertising or linking to any infringing material/websites, or referring people to other communities that exist for the sole purpose of promoting any of these things. Offenders will be warned, then given the boot. PLEASE RESPECT THE STAFF AT ALL TIMES! They take time out of their busy lives to maintain this service for you! If you have complaints about a specific staff member, please bring it to the attention of either Koby or BDRyan *IN PRIVATE* - attempting to call out someone in public view will result in the message being removed and perhaps you also being given the boot for failure to follow proper reporting guidelines. These rules are subject to change at any time, with or without prior notice. By joining one of our channels, you are hereby acknowledging to fully abide by these rules. Failing to read and understand these rules does not excuse you if you break them. If you have anything else you'd like me to add to these rules, or any modifications you think should be made, please post in here and let me know. I did want to originally include this with the original Discord post but that one was already lengthy as it was. I opted instead to make a new thread, and simply link to it from the official Discord thread, which allows for more proper discussion. Moodkiller Posted April 11, 2018 Report Share Posted April 11, 2018 As a suggestion: Having a separate channel for just the rules is quite useful. 1) You can create an invite to this channel (and link it everywhere) so that when someone joins, they see (reads) them rules first, before joining the available channels. 2) One can also pin that message/channel/post to all of the sub channels - for reference. 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
