Synopsis:

Hatori Chise is only 16, but she has lost far more than most. With neither family nor hope, it seems all doors are closed to her. But, a chance encounter began to turn the rusted wheels of fate. In her darkest hour, a mysterious magus appears before Chise, offering a chance she couldn't turn down. This magus who seems closer to demon than human, will he bring her the light she desperately seeks, or drown her in ever deeper shadows?

There is a 3 episode OVA series, but from my understanding they're not required watching to see the series. It sounds likely that the contents of the OVA will make their way into the series before the season is over which would render the OVA moot.

iamevn says: No. This is a pretty straightforward adaption of the manga (at least the first few eps). The OVA is a prequel story that I think would go better after watching the first volume’s worth of anime.

Fyurie says: The OVAs give a little backstory to the series in general (at least if you’re anime-only anyways), but like the comment above mentions, they’re chronologically both before and after the start of the series.

They’re safe to watch, honestly.

I love the series, but I would love to get more insight on just how exactly things ended up going the way they did.
