tJswyt1.jpgThis year's 13th issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine is revealing on Friday that Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga is going back on hiatus until "around winter." The issue on Friday will feature a new chapter.

Miura had resumed the manga in the seventh issue of Young Animal, which shipped on March 24. The manga had been running on a monthly schedule (Hakusensha publishes Young Animal twice a month).

The manga's previous hiatus lasted from September 2016-March 2017.

The manga follows Guts, a superhumanly strong warrior who wields a large sword, as he wanders a dark medieval world filled with demons, corrupt and decadent nobles, and other horrors. Every night, he is assailed by demons, attracted to the curse branded on him after a traumatic event. He makes his way through the world on a quest to slay a former friend turned demon, who took everything away from him.

Hakusensha will publish the manga's 39th compiled volume (pictured at left) in Japan on June 23.

Hakusensha will also publish the first novel in the Berserk franchise, Berserk: Flame Dragon Knight, on June 23. Makoto Fukami is writing the novel, which will have an original story focusing on the character Grunbeld.

Dark Horse Comics will publish the manga's 38th volume in English on July 5.
