i'm sure your asking for specs for a reliable hdd (maybe manufacturers). but tbh it would be nice to know what your gunna use it for. i would have gone for the $109. but im sure someone (*cough* John Flower *cough*) would tell you to get a ssd.

i need it to be good enough to play & stream my PC games off of it and stream my videos and music to xbox 360 & xbox one i like to to work like my old Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JT0EGPW?colid=GDY2FKVEDJE8&coliid=I1QF93SNORW6ML&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl but it does not need to be a Seagate Hard Drive edit: but it needs to be a internal hard drive namely for a Gaming PC

By 2017, SSDs will be so cheap that you might as well get one of that instead and grab large size HDDs to fill the rest of your bays that are midrange i.e. WD Reds.

ok i looked up the WD Reds they are Network-attached storage (NAS) HDDs and are not recommended to use in any thing that is not a NAS but i did see this WD Blue http://www.amazon.com/dp/B013HNYVFG/ref=twister_B017IGSZEQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 i can not find any video review on it do you know if it is any good ??? oh and from what i can find it is the newest WD HDD and i am looking at this 4TB WD Black http://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS5BA/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1450280575&sr=1-3&keywords=WD+BLACK as my PC is a Gaming PC and i need the HDD to put my games on :/ but it is $72+tax more then i have right now. and this is odd the 5TD WD Black http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FJRS5BA/ref=twister_B00G6D6JXC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 is the same price as the 3TB WD Black.

the 5TB WD Black is

List Price:$249.99

Price:$199.99 Free Shipping for Prime Members

You Save:$50.00 (20%)

the 4TB WD Black is

List Price:$319.99

Price:$211.25 & FREE Shipping. Details

You Save:$108.74 (34%)

and the 3TB WD Black is

List Price:$249.99

Price:$149.99 & FREE Shipping. Details

You Save:$100.00 (40%)

the prices on these HDD are so odd :/

For mass storage like movies, anime, music, pictures you can't beat the cost of spinning drives get two and mirror them. For games & applications a ssd would be great but if the cost is to much you want a 7200rpm or a 10000rpm drive. Why the change in games & applications? Well they have active changing data not just data execution. Lats say you wanted to use a drive to convert videos, then you would want the faster or ssd diver because of the data speeds. Once you got the video in the format/codec your going to keep it in for ever then you'll be fine with storing it on a slower drive.

What you are after is the middle games and storage at budget, I would say 7,200RPM hdd with 64MB of cache. As said above if you can swing it the WD black are made for SAN/NAS unit and hard good performance, reliability, and made to run like a workhorse 24/7. If the cost is to high go with a Seagate or Hitachi. Also note that HGST is owned by WD.

If the cost of a 4TB 7200 RPM is just to much to swing right now try to go from something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B99JU4S/

it's faster then a 5400 but not a real 7200rpm and may do the job for you.
