Honors and Awards System?

I was thinking we should have an honors and award system, mostly for contests. Yes, it might create elitism, but I think it's justified because it gives people incentive to do things.

For example: For Uploaders, we can have a thanking system, instead of just posting to thank them, just use the thanking system (obviously it applies to other people as well). Or a reputation system perhaps (I know VB has a mod for that.)

Secondly we could have some sort of award system, little icons that appear under your post count or something. I was thinking 3 of them for the signature contests. Like it would be like there's a little icon, and when you highlight it (or a description somewhere) it reads "Won third place in signature contest" and then have a number showing how many times that person has won that award. Set it so only an admin (or GFX Team?) can up it.

You could have other awards for say, winning other kinds of contests in the future. (Referral contests, video editing contests, etc?)

More like achievements, but just a little added fun, and really I see this helping the signature contest a ton, as the way it stands right now, there is no real reward from it. Just a thought.

Yeah, I've seen this at some of the vBulletin forums I've gone to. I believe there's a ready made script for it, too; i.e., you merely need to upload it in the Admin CP. That's my guess.

I suppose a concern would be that the height for the post area would be increased notably for small posts.

I had been thinking of adding some sort of award program to show off members awards for such things as SOTW, and other competitions and whatnot. Hadn't really looked into any mods for it though. I'll see about the possibility of this when I have more time and think about it. Might need someone to create some nice award images for it too.
