Do You...Early Access?

So, back in the day, people used to get paid playing so called 'early access' or 'Alpha/Beta' builds of games.

 

NOW you have to pay to play test a game.

 

Does anyone else do that?

 

 

I don't, unless it's FREE.

Treating it as a demo.

Well there's a general line between a promotional effort in Alpha/Beta builds and early access which has been popularized by valve with their steam digital platform.

 

Personally I do pay into Early Access, because typically the game will be cheaper than that of when it releases. Not to mention you get to help suggest ideas and overall play it out as a Alpha/Beta Tester. I personally see no issue with it, I view it as you're buying the game early and they're offering you a chance to try it out and suggest some ideas of what could or should be changed.

I remember Capcom charging for demos.

Very ridiculous.

Hardly game demos are becoming a thing of the past with all the digital download going on I like when I can download a demo from Xbox Live or PSN just to try out the game.

I do a few free demo's(free of course) there's no freakin way I'd pay just to beta test a game.

wow. just wow. so they want me to pay for a half baked game. and then provide input? can you give me a list of those companies so i can put them on my hitliist

Like I said Capcom at one point we're charging for demos but then stopped.

Although that's the only company I know.

I will occasionally get an early access game, if it looks like something I may enjoy. And if it's not too expensive. For instance, I recently got 7 Days to Die on steam, and have been enjoying it immensely.

I tend to buy games when their out never bought an early access so I don't have much to say.
