What to use to cut mkv files at specific frames?

mkvmerge. It's part of mkvtoolnix, which has a nice GUI.

You can not split 'at specific frames'. It will cut to the nearest key frame (sux).

Wait I have a better idea, I just have to edit the mkv subtitle file so that it starts at the right moment is there a way I can do that? thanjs.

Subtitle Edit or Aegisub will do the job. Good luck with the syncing.

Some tips if you have the basic sync correct. VLC is nice for adjusting delays, then just use mkvmerge to sync the delay.

I downloaded Subtile Edit and WTH do I have to resynch very line? Cant I just push the beginning of the whole subbing process to 1:15 into the video whitout having to resynch every single line?

Do this:

Delete Subtitle Edit->get Aegisub->load .ass->ctrl+a and then ctrl+i->apply delay to start/end of each line->save

You should also load the video and get the correct delay from there.

Aegisub is all you need for soft subs.

AegiSub as Baal stated is the ONLY program you should be using for ASS-styled subs.

True true.Sorry about that AegiSub will be better with Styled subs.

@Bakymono

It's only mkvmerge that gives that weird file size when you extract the subs (No big deal), as JohnFlower said it might be fonts or some crap. If you are going to do a lot of sub editing I would recommend getting mkvcleaver to extract subtitles.

The question about saving in only .ass , I think AegiSub only saves to .ass (correct me if I'm wrong). Why would you want to change your subtitle format? you will loose the styling. If you really want to change the format subtitle edit will do the job.
