Yes I am. I want to know just how many here are fellow simmers as well.

If you have gotten Showtime expansion and are online with it...my sim name is Sakurai21...feel free to add me as a friend there.

These are the games and EPs I own. I also have a couple stuff packs that came in a combo with the EPs, but I'm not sure which ones they are.

Sims 3:

  • Showtime
  • Generations
  • Pets
  • Late Night
  • Ambitions

Sims 2:

  • Late Night
  • University

The Sims are a great way to pass the time... if you want to pass hours and hours, haha.

I played The Sims for a while before "upgrading" to The Sims 2--the quirkiness and character you found even in the instruction manual of the first Sims game is a sight rarely seen these days. I was fairly young when playing it, so the expansions I got were somewhat limited. I had Livin' Large, House Party, Vacation, Unleashed, and Superstar. I missed out on Hot Date because it seemed a bit odd for me to ask my dad to buy, and I missed Makin' Magic because TS2 was out and I was ready to move on. I do have the game and all of its expansions on my laptop now, but it's mostly for nostalgia's sake.

As for Sims 2, I have University, Nightlife, Open For Business, Pets, Seasons, and Bon Voyage. I didn't buy the stuff packs because they're a major waste of money. FreeTime I missed because I just didn't care and Apartment Life I missed because I was in basic training when it came out, and by the time I was willing and able to spend my money willy-nilly, Sims 3 was already on the horizon.

For Sims 3, I have all the expansions and the next two preordered, but, again, I don't buy the stuff packs because they are gargantuan wastes of money. When I play, though, I play offline and don't particularly care for the social features--especially not if they're going to try to squirrel away features and items you have to unlock by participating in the social aspects.

I also have Sims Medieval, which is fun for a while, but incredibly repetitive. I haven't the expansion for it because I don't see the reason in paying for what little content seems to be available on it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Sims and gladly waste hours of my life on the game. I even occasionally use it a storytelling tool, though for more frivolous ventures than those more serious and actually scripted.

I accept its game-breaking bugs with open arms and pray JM can fix the more flagrant of issues (aside from NRaas, JM's mods are the only ones I use in TS3--my mod collection in TS2 is a different story entirely). I accept the fact the saves I have spent days on may vanish at any given moment due to these same horrible glitches. I don't care too much about the appearance of the game, though I do appreciate how much easier it is to make "normal" looking characters in TS3 vice TS2 (which, yes, was a prettier game, I think), and there are aspects of TS and TS2 I find myself missing in TS3. The karaoke options, for instance, seem to be far more limited in TS3 than they were in TS2, but I suppose they made up for it with the singer career--barely. Sometimes I even miss the fashion model option. And, not to mention, I'm the nicest god in the world, giving my Sims everything they want, keeping them happy, and making sure everyone marries their high school sweethearts and no one suffers divorce or early death (unless I really dislike them, but that only happens when NPCs or Sims outside of the family start fussing with my characters).

The poll is broken. You need an option in the expansions question for 'none'.

I have no expansions but I do have Sims 3. I played it for a bit but got bored when I stole everything in town and had a ridiculous amount of money.

Honestly my favourite part of the game was designing houses. I could spend ages making different houses and then play the game for a few hours before deciding to make some new houses!

LOL! Architecture and interior design is what I love doing most. In fact, one of the main reason I decided to get Sims 3 was to be able to design.

BTW, thanks EO for moving this to the gaming area of the forums. I thought about that after I had posted, but obviously don't have the power to move it myself.

As for what you said earlier, I am not one for stuff packs either. I really only go for the expansions and I only lack the World Adventures and Generations.

I never got the Medieval one once I found out that it wasn't part of the others, that it was an individual game by itself. Therefore, I had no interest to try it anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love Sims and have /will waste many hours on it, but Medieval holds no interest. I feared it would be to repetitive like you said. I went and got both Seasons and Supernatural pre-ordered yesterday. I have been waiting for so long for these expansions. Ever since Sims 2.

Yeah, Medieval is really repetitive and I think they made a mistake in not letting us continue playing the same kingdom through the different ambitions--the least they could have done was create random maps for us so it's not the same kingdom layout every single time, or even different buildings so it's not the same wizard tower, the same tavern, the same market every time. I like the quests and flavour text, and I can get behind a more quest-oriented Sims game akin to the portable and console versions, but between the lack of customisation and the lack of choices, it's a very bare game. Unfortunate, because it had a lot of potential. I think in different hands it would have been a better game.

And they're definitely milking it by saving Seasons for so long, but I suppose I could understand the technical limitations they were probably facing, since it is a seamless neighbourhood vice the very individual households of TS2. I don't really know what kind of coding that would all entail, but considering they seem to release game content in the store that conflicts with each other, I imagine handling weather would be complex indeed, haha.

If the stuff packs sold for less, I wouldn't mind picking them up. But even then, they still have the Store--which I also refuse to buy from--so I don't know why they're wasting their time with the stuff packs in the first place. Either put the content in the expansions themselves or just go full digital. Half of the stuff they sell is complete rubbish anyway.

I added the option for "none", although I would imagine that just abstaining from voting would have been sufficient, haha.

But I wanted to answer the second part of the poll, but had no answer for the first part. Thanks for fixing :)

I just started the game up for the first time in a few years and it is kinda different. It seems to be pushing me to buy different items with simpoints. I hate games that nickel and dime you for extras.

I see. So it won't let you vote in the second question without voting in the first? That is weird.

I think you should be able to turn off the store options in the game, although I can't remember if it was an option or a mod. I try not to pay attention to stuff I don't care about in the game, haha.

I use to be, I bought Sims 3 when I was in the defence force. It really passed the time! But after leaving the defence force I found the time I had to play it shortened so I gave it up. I would like to play it again as I never really go into the full depth of the game. Maybe sometime in the future.

Yeah sadly my computer does not like sims 2 as I recall it would cry at Sims 3. So what time I have played the sims 3 we have has been on the wife's computer.

I can see the appeal of NOT going full digital to be honest with you. I for instance got mad at Guild Wars 2 because they decided to go digital for the prerelease requirements :(.

I happen to like my discs, and displays.

Also some people still do not use debit, or credit cards, and the sims games would leave them out of stuff they might find cool :/.

I love The Sims series. Have 1, 2, and 3...though I'm really annoyed that EA wont release any new DLC for Sims 3 on Steam, which is where I bought Sims 3. So unless I download EA's Origin service (which scans every file on your computer from what I've read), transfer my keys to it, and redownload everything - I'm not going to be able to play Supernatural EP. :(
