Is Starcraft 2 worth getting?

It really depends. If you know the first one inside out then certainly. If your just looking to see what happens next then yes as well. It is a bit harder then the first one, and requires that you have a better computer to run it. I picked my copy up late cause I was unsure as well at the time. I have enjoyed to so far so all and all. I say go for it.

I disagree, I think the game mechanics are much easier than SC1. Being able to rally workers to start mining, much better movement AI, large control groups etc, all make the game play much easier. You don't have to micro like crazy all the time.

If you like RTS games then I think SC2 is the best one out there, it certainly has the best pro scene and is lots of fun :)

I would definitely recommend it. I mean, if you like RTS games then SC2 is a must buy. The graphics, story, gameplay and style make it definitely one of my favourite RTS games of all time.

Also, as zx0 said, the games is actually easier than SC1 or SCBW. Mostly due to what he said, but also I find it better cause of the AI's non ridiculous nature and the improved movement/terrain mechanics...

Its a pretty average game as RTS go. But I found the multi player is great. Especially if you have some friends to play with. There is no other RTS were you can dual cards, power towers, tower defense and test your skills at iron chief all in one sit down. That is a lot of fun. This makes it more of a multilayer game than a single player game. So depending upon how you like to play this can really effect your choice.

Have you played Starcraft? Depending on how much you liked the original, you may or may not like this one. Sure it's a sequel. But it play's just like the first one, in my opinion anyway. Sure, they've updated everything, so it looks nicer, plays smoother, all that jazz. But it's all fundamentally the same. The Multiplayer is great, if you are okay with lots of competition.

It's a good game but if you need to play it a fair amount to learn the game properly. Customs are fun aswell, the worst thing about it are probably the people that rush you constantly, also known as 'cheesing' gets pretty damn annoying.

I had been playing since the Beta, and I whole heartedly recommend it. It is a great RTS, and there have been numerous improvements in the game-play, over the orginal SC, as mentioned by zx0. The multi-player is both a blast when you want that, and has a very competitive ladder system.

basically it's like this -

SC2 has a kick ass single player campaign which teaches you the most BASIC moves required in the game. I shit you not, if you manage to finish the single player without raging out once, be prepared for the shitload of players out there in the world who will use dirty tactic after another to win in a multiplayer match.

Being a Blizzard game, the multiplayer is the key selling point of the game and it does it VERY VERY well. Despite some ragers out there, I'd say the game is pretty well balanced with either race, be it Terran, Zerg or Protoss having an equal chance to win.

I play as Protoss most of the time and I've had my fair share of victories and losses against many different kinds of opponents who've tried so many different builds against me.

In short, if you LOVE competition in an RTS game, go for it. Buy StarCraft 2. It deserves it.
