Rapidshare Sucks

The title basically says it all, since Rapidshare made some really stupid changes that basically makes it impossible to download if you are a free user. jDownloader has been displaying messages that say this.

Rapidshare disabled the ability to resume downloads that were stopped for free users and also limited the average download speed to 30 kb/s.

Because of the way they are doing this, it may look like the download is frozen.

Don’t worry – it’s not. It’s just waiting for the next piece of the file to be transferred.

The pauses in between are added by Rapidshare in order to make the overall average speed slower for free-users.

This basically means that Rapidshare is no longer a good option for anime, since the speeds will make it take forever to get files. Some have speculated that Rapidshare did this since their servers were being overloaded.

Yeah I noticed yesterday I could only download 1978Ko of files on rapidshare then it stops downloading completely :(

I guess we will be turning to mediafire. It takes more time for us uploaders since we have to zip the files in parts before uploading it but the download speed is pretty good and more importantly it allows parallel downloads.

Its not actually stuck there, its that its waiting for a bit until you could have downloaded that much with a 30kb/s connection, then it does the next chunk. Its like a super slow torrenting thing...

Also, right now I am also looking at slingfile for uploading. From what I can see, it works nicely and with parallel downloads

Oh nooo please not slingfiles ! At maximum (in mornings) I get ~200kbps and usually in evenings I get ~50kbps ...

Weirdly enough it's the only ddl site I've found that my school doesn't block, maybe because it's pretty recent and not very well known.

Really? I have been able to get a solid 400-500 kb/s per download, which I normally run 3 at a time. Maybe it works better for those in North America?
