Avith
So, DOA 5 has been announced and is in the works. This is THE game sequel I've been waiting for too long now since DOA 4 in 2005, so I'm very excited about it. I know the doa series isn't very popular (besides in Japan), but truthfully it's my favorite fighting series (with soul calibur in very close 2nd). It has a very well balanced fighting system with well balanced characters. It's really hard to be cheap or spam in that game and get away with it. I absolutely love the combo/throws/counter system that makes the game a lot of fun and is very fair.I was wondering if many of you will be getting it. If you are or are not, why? If so, which console?
Dude888
I'm not sure, I find fighting games mostly missing stuff to do, even though I bought the last Mortal Kombat and I was planning on buying Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.If it was coming out this fall, I wouldn't buy it for sure, because there are too many games coming out at the same time and I don't have enough money to buy them all. RikuoAmero
I might get it. The one thing that annoys me in DOA is when the opponent gets in a good chain or combo, its practically impossible to get out of it. There have been times where the animation has my opponent gear up for a few seconds to let off a powerful attack, and my character just stands there, completely ignoring my button mashing and my screams of "Move, you dumb blond bitch!" Avith
@Dude888I believe it's coming out MUCH later. ... Definitely not this year ... maybe fall or winter of 2012.@RikuoAmeroYou can't combo while the opponent is comboing you or if they get a stun. Learn the basic counters! You can counter EVEN DURING combos as long as you arn't in the air or on the ground. This way the absurdly long combos arn't so bad like they are in most fighting games. Yeah, I suck at most games period, especially online. Regardless, I really love the DOA series - tons of action, balanced game mechanics, epic character models, and great stages; What's not to love?! Avith
If I'm not in the air or on the ground...then where the fuck am I?Hmm, I maybe should have clarified. combo'd in air - being "juggled" as it is called. The character is literally off the ground being combo'd in mid air usually started by techniques that moved the character being hit/thrown upwards or while you were already caught while jumping.on ground - lying down due to an attack knock down (and sometimes as a "stance" like with Brad Wong); not standing, crouching, jumping, stuned, comboing, moving ... ect.Does that make more sense now? I probably use different terminology for this stuff than most people.
Trend
Kasumi with enhanced chest physics Ftw. even if I suck at fighting games i'll be checking this out.I agree with this statement plus it's been too long since I've played a DOA game, so I'll definitely be getting it
nemarious
It has a very well balanced fighting system with well balanced characters.I've always wondered how some of the female characters have stayed balanced as the games have moved on lol. On a serious note, I was looking for a fighting game the other day after I got pissed off on FIFA 12; I needed something to beat the crap out of lol. I'm personally more of a Soul Calibur man as I've found other games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat to be far too slow. I haven't played a DoA game since DoA 2 on a friends Dreamcast. I might pick it up when it's cheap.
Dominate24
I've bought every Doa game that has come out, excluding the beach volleyball series, so I will definitely be picking this up. I'm with you Avith, Doa is my favorite series and Soul Calibur is my second favorite. Soul Calibur V is coming out next year too. It's going to be a great year for fighting games. kitex2
no thanks...i feel as if the series as been going down since 2...this doesnt even spark a small interest...
Avith
@Dominate24Haha, you sir have my instant respect. I bought almost every doa game myself. I bought 1 and 2 Ultimate for Xbox, 2 hardcore for ps2, 3 for xbox, and of course 4 for Xbox 360.Yeah, 2012 will rock for sure with all the awesome releases especially fighters!@kitex2Wow! How exactly has it NOT drastically improved since 2 and to you "going down" now?

Though I probably won't py a full $60 for the game, I'll probably borrow the game or pick it up when it hits below $30.I don't think fighting games hold their value very long. I mean look at Street Fighter IV. $60 on launch, maybe two weeks later, $40 Used--> One Month Later, $30, A couple months/weeks later, DLC+Game $40, dropped to $30 not soon after. Fighter games just don't cut it when it comes to stability in pricing like that imho.
Avith
@KasoivcHeh most games are not worth 60$ + ... but for me fighting games are kinda worth it to me, especially a Dead or Alive game. I STILL play my DoA games (mostly DoA 4 and DoA 2 Ultimate). Hell, all I really play/buy now IS fighters, a few RPGs and maybe an action slash&hack/beat-em' up ever once in a while. If DOA 5 has anywhere near as much replay value, getting it! Same goes for the Soul Calibur series. Those 2 series I rarely get bored with and NEVER dissapointed with.
